Calling Troublestarter.... brain pick re CANBUS
« on: 29 December 2009, 14:38 »
Hi Mate,

Looking at the F900bt but is there a need for the CANBUS adapters? I thought it was only if you have a MFSW and highline (I don't have either).....

The only other connection thing is a Fakra adapter I think.

Could you confirm if I'm right or not?

Cheers,

Dan

the mk5/6 golfs need a canbus adapter when you fit an afermarket h/u
as there is no ignition live in the standard fakra plug

the canbus system is a way of carrying several pieces of digital information down one wire and the canbus adapter converts this from digital to electrical
when a canbus adapter is fitted it will give you the following connections
ignition live
handbrake
speed pulse
illumination
reverse
it can be done without it by running a cable from the fuse box or the cigarette lighter but this only gives you the ignition live
and if you are fitting a sat nav then you need the speed pulse(unless its a kenwood),handbrake and reverse connections
you will also need the fakrs to iso aerial adapter the same as this
