Ive got the spec C and the Nav cd has to be in for it to work.  The only thing the spec c has is silver buttons

im mistaken  :embarassed: :embarassed: i read it incorrectly!!

i think its a bit cr@p that you have to have a CD in it!! why is this. in my other cars there is no need for a silly disc so why do VW have a disc :huh: this is stupid!!

Not wishing to hijack the thread - is there a touch screen version of MFD2 Navi - is this Version D.  Sure I've read somewhere this is shipping with new cars (maybe it was Manu_R32 that said it). If so this is what I'd get.  Do these things integrate ok with iPod cabling in armrest and is it still the playlist track crap I have now?

Current factory Sat Nav is the RNS510 touchscreen unit which has superseded the MFD2. Has a 30gb hard drive for the mapping and any music you wish to install and will also take SD cards in a slot at the front. Been reviewed here several times and there are several previous threads here:

MFD2 is no longer as stated above the RNS510/Trinax is now fitted instead.

MFD2's are still a decent unit for those not wanting to splash out on the RNS510.

I have installed a fair few of them and they are pretty much plug and play.  One thing you may need to look at is the wiring to the Aux in and CD Changer if fitted.
