you could try and change the ribbon cable that connects the back part of the headunit to the slide out panel, they are a common fault on most flip down kenwood headunits. have a look on ebay for it as i bought mine from there. you will need to find out the part number for the cable as there is different types. could be the ribbon cable, if not most likely to be something wrong inside the main box.

its not that hard to do, u need to locate the ribbon inside the headunit and then follow it to the panel. when the detachable panel is taken off have a look where the connectors are where the fascia connects to, that is the ribbon cable. once you open it up and have a good look how the ribbon is connected and fed to the sliding panel you should knw how it goes together. its abit hard to explain, but just ask me if you get stuck and ill try my best to help you. here is the search results for kenwood rbbon cables on ebay. http://motors.search.ebay.co.uk/kenwood-ribbon_In-Car-Entertainment-GPS_W0QQbsZSearchQQcatrefZC6QQcoactionZcompareQQcoentrypageZsearchQQcopagenumZ1QQfgtpZQQfposZPostcodeQQfromZR2QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQga10244Z10425QQlopgZQQsacatZ3270QQsadisZ200QQsaprchiZQQsaprcloZQQsargnZQ2d1QQsaslcZ3QQsbrftogZ1QQsofocusZunknown

dont forget to check you are ordering the right part. the part no is printed on the cable near the end that connects to the main board inside the headunit, and make sure you buy one with the connector already soldered on which will save any hassle of desoldering the old and resoldering etc.

It should be a warranty part, as we got a guy what appears to be a similar thing a few weeks back! So if it's no longer under warranty then it will cost you (obv) and i think they're about £20 to buy i'dhave thought.

Although there is a guy on Ebay, who sells facia panels (new ones) and as far as i know all you have to do is give him all of the serial numbers and details off the unit and he will send you a new Facia Panel,  Unfortunately i dn't know how much they are!
