Okay depending on the make of the clocks, most of the Motometer clocks had 140 on them and the VDO usually have 120 in an 8v.
One thing to bear in mind, the 120 & 160 clocks are geared to run with the red gearbox drive gear, the 140 clocks need to have a white gearbox gear, otherwise all reading including the MFA can be out.
Our 8v originally had 120 VDO clocks, at some point in it's life prior to us acquiring it they had changed the clocks for 140 items but not the drive gear, we picked the car up and it was returning 40 mpg, not the case as we all know unless drive 55 mph.
The speedo on the car is out by 3 @ 70, actual mph being 67 and then the further up you go the more it becomes wayward, 5 @ 100, actual mph 95. All of this also alters with the amount of tread on the tyres and so on.
A good 8v with no real modification should be good for 115 and you should be able to hit the rev limiter in top gear.
