modded 1.8t is expensive on insurance tho. 2.0 is cheap.

Not always, specialist companies are available, 2.0 is still classed as a GTI at the end of the day.

I'd love to pay £250 for insurance, but I'm 20 which means I can only drive into trees, and other commuters
I've had my licence since 17, no claims or convictions but it's still expensive.
My Mini Cooper S renewal came through at £1650!

Ooo! Nice!
I'm too young to even get classic insurance or I'd have a Mini! A Mini that is not a MINI.

Groups mean nothing really....
All sorts of things are taken into account.
For instance, if a certain make or model of car is involved in accidents more, it's seen as higher risk to insurers, therefor puts insurance up.
Insurance on a Citroen Saxo VTS for me is £3000+ as it's seen as a high risk car even though it's insurance group is lower.
My Mum's 1.5 DCI Nissan Qahqai was circa 2000 for me, yet again my Golf GTI 1.8T is cheaper.
Groups mean nothing, and insurance companies are ****

so on that basis, more accidents happen in a 2.0 gti than a1.8t?
