1.8t Every day from me, Steer clear from the 2.0 they nowhere reliable or as quick as the 1.8t.
If funds wont allow then atleast for the 1.8N/A gti thats still 125bhp which is more than the 2.0

You can grab yourself an alright 1.8T for under £2k easily.  Or a bit over will get you a great one.

Any of the engines mentioned will be fine with high mileage provided they have been serviced regularly.

Especially oil changes  - one thing to consider is a replacement oil pick up pipe which can become blocked over time only £15 for piece of mind

2.0 is nippy, reliable and cheap to insure. There are faster clios than 1.8T's.  :lipsrsealed:

Yeah and there are faster clios than the 2.0! And in my experience it's really unreliable and drinks oil like theres no tomorrow.
So not sure how your statement justifies buying the 2 litre?
It's EVEN SLOWER.

2.0 sucks bad. Why they put GTI on it . God the old Rs 1800 had 150 bhp with out a turbo, 115 bhp for a 2 litre sucks. I got 115 bhp out of my fiesta xr2i 1.6 litre 8 valve.

i own a 2.0 gti..also known in the service book as a highline....it may not be as quick as a 1.8t...but reading tales of woe on this forum, seems to be a a damn sight more reliable.
my 2.0 returns around 32mpg..and i dont exactly hang about  again , reading how many miles to £10 worth of petrol type posts..again seems to be better than the other models...except an oil burner
as an every day car it does everything you would want.

+1 on the above. I have a driveway done engine conversion with the above engine AGU 1.8t and its been super reliable and returns about the same mpg with a spec 1 R-Tech remap. Definatley gets a thumbs up from me for the 1.8t, specially over the 2.0 in my opinion.
