MK1 Cab HU
« on: 14 December 2004, 11:47 »
Hi all,

Quick question regarding my MK1 Cab and a HU.

I have a Kenwood HU and 6 disc changer. The ISO is still intact, so I just plopped my HU in and hey presto all works fine.

However, the damn thing is draining my battery. It doesn't actually power off when I turn the ignition off. Even if i remove the face plate so it will be off, it still kills the battery

Any ideas?

You say that the ISO plug is intact, but you need to check that the car is giving out two seperate supplies - one 12v permanent live, one 12v switched live (this should be switched on the ignition).

It sounds like the permanent live in the car is powering both the switch and perm wires of the stereo loom, which will mean that the unit never powers down.

Kenwood ignition live and permenant live are not compatible with VW. The terminals need to be swapped around, then it will work fine
I don't own this anymore - I just can't be arsed to change the picture
