well the fact that JOM/Hottuning/TA technix/Jamex etc are all made in the same factory kinda gives it away a little....

Im basing my opinions on cars i have owned and/or driven with various kits on.

have had Hottuning and TA coilies, identical, and both crap. also had AVO's which were awesome! but then for £750 a set you expect decent quality!

As for Jamex, have had their shocks and springs, and they were crap, and like i said they are made in same factory as hottuning etc and just badged differently.

Also know a lot of people with different brands of coilies (and have been in/driven their cars) from hottuning, to FK AK's,up to weitecs and again to KW V2's.

never heard a good report for the budgets, from anyone that actually knows what they are talking about at least.

FK aint awesome, not by any means, but they are a damn sight more stable under hard cornering than the jamex/hottuning etc counterparts.

As has been said already in this thread, you get what you pay for.

If all you want is looks, fine, buy the cheap an nasty's. but if you want decent coilies, and are going to go to the hassle of having them set up PROPERLY, then buy Weitec's at the very least.

matey

iv been driving since 1994/5

had all sorts of kits onmy cars, mostly koni

i ran a koni / jamex set up for years on the swift GTI and it was awesome

had the jamex coilovers on the mk 3 for coming up to 3 years, and i do alot of driving, they have been superb,i really dont think you know what your on about. they aint the best on the market, but by no means crap!

theirs not that much in it compaired to other kits iv used, you probably never had your car set up correct after fitment, i agree their is some sh!t kits out their but the jamex has been very good.

Also, and im not saying their not, but how do you know they are made all in the same factory, i mean i saw some recent hottuning items, they look very different to my jamex.... just saying, i dont know you but it just seems your basing your decisions on what you have read on here.

not trying to get at you, im just voicing my opinions

also worth noting, why spend 700 quid + on shocks when the car is not worth much more haha.fair enough on a show car which has had thousands spent on it,dont see the point otherwise, not when items like the jamex do the job very well indeed

im happy with them

I always take my car to be set up correctly when i fit new coilies. and i dont just mean a tracking session!

if you've had koni set ups, i really dont see how you can say the jamex are anywhere near as good. jamex are good for one thing, going low. handling wise a koni/eibach setup will be a million miles better than jamex.

my opinions are not based on what i have read, they are based on what i have driven. i have never driven a car with cheap coilies and thought they were as good as my avo's or koni set ups.

And after you have driven a car with KW V2's on, cheap coilies just dont come close.

look at these coilies, and tell me they aren't identical barr colour choices (top two even share same colours):

You can think what you like about what i know, but IMO anyone that thinks Jamex are of same kind of quality as AVO, really doesnt have a clue.

The cost issue i do agree with in some respects, fair enough not wanting to put £700 coils on a £400 car. BUT, if your actually wanting top end performance from your coilies, and not just looks, im afraid you have to pay the good money.

where did i say their were as good as avo????

i said for the money they are great

as for looks, yeah they look similar but thats still not enough proof to say their are made in the same factory!!!!

my mates hottuning ones look different to my jamex.. but what do i know

yeah i still have a koni set up on the other car, its great, but as i say, for the money the jamex coilovers are great

we are not saying jamex is as good as koni or Gaz or spax but they are very good for the money as i keep saying which you are failing to grasp and seen as we aint on the track with the car its been perfect for day to day use, not as comfy ride as the konis but i can live with that.

they cant be that bad quality either,  after almost 3 years of abuse haha, i do quite alot of miles and i must say for a mk 3 it sticks to the road

im sure a set up costing 4 times as much will be better, but can you justify it for the daily hack, like really can you?? all goes down to how long you plan to own the car etc really i guess. but these jamex are still going strong, i keep them well greased and all is well.

i was in two minds when i got the jamex coilovers but im very suprised by them..turned out better than i expected..  a lesson to be learned by all here....
