Mk3 Advice needed
« on: 05 August 2009, 10:06 »
Hi, just fitted a sony stereo in to my MK3 which I automatically thought eveything would be fine as the fittings apear to be exactly the same and i am getting no radio reception with sound and the cd player is playing with no sound?.....all the wires appear to be conected fine and I have even tried swaping the red and yellow ones around after reading a couple of threads to no avail!........anyone have any ideas?....or experienced anything similar?

Thanks

a dodgy aerial wont stop a cd from giving any output
(sorry if its trying to teach you too suck eggs???)i think you might want to suck them yourself with excellent advice like that
check the light blue att/mute wire on the back of the sony stereo is not touching earth as that will cause the cd player and radio to not give an audio

Cheers for the advice guys!.....after all the racking of my brains and nearly pulling my hair out!, it turns out that it was the bloody stereo that was faulty!!!!...now the problem is it won't fit in properly....looks like i'm going to have to chop into the dash behind the stereo as all the wires wont fit back!!! it seems like the only way i'm going to get it to fit in flush.

take the glove box out that will give you loads of room to move the iso  loom to one side to allow the h/u to fit properly

I managed to push all the cables at the back of my headunit down behind the heater controls. VERY fiddly but worth it in the end. But the above method works too. Just means it can be a pain at times if you need to remove the glovebox in the future having wires behind it.

I pushed the controlled behind the heater controls too with little hassle. Well worth it.
