just bought a mk2 gti £250   with 197,000 on the clock original engine and box and it pulls well, mots show its been doing 30,000  a year for the last 3 yrs.   i'll run it to 200k then abf it   :smiley: 
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

have done 960miles in 13 days.

2 weeks before that count i did 500miles in 3 days

bewteen the above 2 i expect i did a fair amount to.  :cool:

My Mk5 has done 64,000 and I intend keeping her. And yes, she is very regularly maintained.

mines done 204k but engine was swapped at 194k as the guy who had the car before me thrashed it and big end bearing was going.
gearbox had done 203k before swapping.
never had a problem other than the usual, so you should be fine doing motorway miles
