Castrol Edge is what the dealers sell, if I got that response from NT then I wouldn't want them working on my car anyway!

was just going to query something similar re oil usage.

my check oil light came on for the second time in just under a years ownership, first time was before its second long life service, so i thought fair enough, been a while since its had an oil change. topped it up and thought nothing of it.

incidently, my warning light comes in whilst there is still approx 3 mm of oil above the min whilst the engine is still warm, i i would have thought that once cold there will be another few mmm above that.

its now had its service 3 months ago. check oil light came on last night. now ive got to admit to not checking the levels since its service, i thought i would get at least 6 months from the service date until i had to start worrying. i dont know what level they filled it too.

should i be worried? i'm going to get a top up bottle at lunchtiime and fill it up tonight to just below the highlevel mark, will be keeping an eye on it a bit closer now.

oil consumtion can seem to vary on the TFSI, I had to top mine up (not a great deal) but every 3-4k but recenly I checked and it looks to have not used any.. which is odd.

Always worth checking after the service though, my brother once picked his car up from a main dealer service and they forgot to top up the oil !
