Title: Seriously seriously serioulsy FECKED OFF!
Post by: R32UK on 16 October 2008, 19:21
Ok as today was the day I was supposed to be getting my car back I felt like a kid at xmas. Got a call to day that it was all done, just getting a valet and would be ready for collection within the hour. Smashing stuff... just the small point of a £500 excess to be paid + vat???

Phoned insurance company to ask what the hell was going on. I was told that the excess would be waved but I would have to pay the VAT as when asked what I do I said im self employed??? wtf?? I told them I wasnt, so they said I wouldnt have to pay it. Dont know what that was all about.. but a little white lie never hurt anyone. Any idea how that works anyone??

Car brought round. Immediately noticed that it was dirty, with polish stuck in every possible place. The the list of problems..

1. New rear door has a small dent in it. A brand new door this was supposed to be. Acknowledged by dealer.

2. Rear door not lined up at top. Again acknowledged

3. Rear door not lined up at bottom. Again acknowledged

4. Side spolier didnt sit flush with the rear arch. After being told "thats how it is" I showed him the other side. :huh:Again acknowledged

5. Scratch on boot lid. Again acknowledged, said it would polish out (was told they would polish the whole car anyway!)

6. Nice paper placed in footwell... all pedals filthy. Again acknowledged

7. Inside if rear door panel damaged. Only noticed after wards.

Fooookin fuming!!!!!!!

Yeah. RA Hudds. To be fair the body shop rep was quite forward about it and acknowledged all the faults that I spotted immediately. But surely someone must have checked it before it went out. Very very dissapointed with the service to say the least.

Car will need to go in again for 3-4 days. It a 45min journey and a fair bit of juice too, would get them to pick it up and drop off a courtesy car but I dont want them to be ragging my car about... And this time I have told them only a golf gti spec or above will do! (with bluetooth fitted). Otherwise I am writing to the head office and will demand they build and deliver a MKVI R36 to my door!!!

Sorry to hear this man, its completely out of order for things like this to happen.

I know you say that the body shop rep was good about it, but it shouldnt have happened in the first place. Surely they would not tread their own cars like that, so why do it to you. Take them to the cleaners!!! Sue them Sue them Sue them Sue them Sue them, haha sorry i get carried away sometimes!

Hope you get it sorted, and recover all costs too

^^^^  :lipsrsealed:

Unfortunately not many people (if any) will look after your car the way you or most of us would

It's also rare a bodyshop will actually properly valet a car, there interpretation of valet is to mop off the area around the repair, vac it out and hose it down!

Unlucky bud, hope it gets sorted soon!

i think they had washing machines in 1990. good one though.

on the thread, stuff like body panels not being aligned right is poor workmanship. dirty pedals matter for absolutely nothing on the face of things.

anyway what happened to the car, did you crash it? should have crashed it better and written it off because an accident repaired vehicle will never be the same as it was new.

Sorry for you R32... my Ed30 is going into the dealers next Monday for a look at the DSG box.  They want to keep it for 2 days and I am really worried that it might come back with a scratch or two, or three and a little dent to wrap it all up.  People just don't seem to give a s81t anymore.  You shouldn't have to be worried when giving something like a car in for a repair or service.

Unbelievable what the think they can get away with. And that's not even an old car like some of us drive!

Which insurance company is that, anyway? It's always good to know which ones are clueless and should be avoided! If they can't select a proper bodyshop, then they are in the wrong business.

Good on you that you have a good eye for detail!

Had my car in the othere week to sort some dealer damage out. Got it home and they had scratched the soft touch plastic around the DSG gear selector. Couldn't believe it

Mate, you need to write a letter of abuse. Or at least something constructive. I'd also go for a written confirmation of what work they will do and the standard it needs to be done to.

Posts like this make me afraid to go the stealers.

the insurance company is direct line. They actually selected an affiliated garage and said it would be cheaper to get it repaired from there. It was me who insisted that it go into a VW garage :undecided:

Sorry to hear of your headache bud :( unfortunatly thats the way some companies work :(

I had the same problems as you with my red GTi, the panel gaps were horrendous, the paint was different colours and the worst of all the new tyres the car went in on, were down to their wear bars ! :(  The bastards were raping my car round in the back !

Directline were Horrendous, always making you phone this department and that department, and they have to ring the bodyshop etc ! you should have just told them VW only and that for safety reasons you can't drive those small ass sh!tters that enter"twitsrus"prise give.

I hate the headache of directline insurance

Hope you all get it sorted asap and as soon as possible !
