it seems loads of people have being busy this weekend and even I've done some work!!
I have repainted my original grill (and repaired the break) and that will be going back on shortly (as soon as i can get the laquer to shine!)
and I have ordered £80 worth of detailing products! took some time finding the good stuff. and I have got some seat clocks and ordered some led bulbs to fit them too!
this is on top of work (well 3 hours on sat) and the children staying.. so I'm pleased with whats got done
hope everybodys done plenty/enough too..... Lets all ban wasted weekends like I normally have
-
Its a bugger to get the laquer to shine huh, i found that too!
At one point this weekend i had 9 wheels on the golf, picked up some alloys for the Gfs Corsa. HAHA.
-
i really wanna do the LED thing inside mine but i'm fecking hopeless at soldering.....got all the kit with tripod magnify glass etc just dunno WTF to do with it  i want blue LED in clocks and red everywhere else
my next jobs for the up and coming weekends :
tomorrow - take car the have head gasket checked
weekend - fit stainless cat back exhaust
following weekend - remove all interior plastic trim and spray black, re-trim roof liner in black too, tint front lenses, go to breakers and get side trim ready for de-arch.
weekend after that - order coilovers aasuming all's well with head gasket
-

nelds i have found a place that sells o.e dash bulbs are led replacements and I am going to give some a try.. they should replace the clocks, cig lighter, heater surround bulbs the easy way
try this link http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/automotive-bulbs-509t-dash-bulbs-c-101_142.html (http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/automotive-bulbs-509t-dash-bulbs-c-101_142.html)
oh i will compare them and do a thread showing the difference between the bulb replacment and solder jobs...(on the clocks at least as i currently run soldered led's there)

hehe thanx man, it seems a shame to be removing this lump at somepoint in the future to replace it with a 20vTurbo unit, but the new engine will be treated to the same treatment so all will be good
i guess ill put this engine up for sale when the conversion is done which will be end of the year i guess, maybe a mk2 owner may want it...
i just like the OE clean look on the mk 3, and i aint seen many, if any early mk 3 GTIs as clean as mine
-
What did you use to get the rocker cover looking like that? The whole engine looks great mate. I am pretty jelous too!
-
i used my bare hands and alot of sand paper, also done the airflow meter housing and the ISV, plus i made a vbraket for the K&N out of Stainless steel then polished that up too, didnt like the black one that was with the kit
was hard work but worth it, was at the main dealer and the technicians were pretty impressed, hehehe
-
i didnt even touch mine this weekend -did a foreigner instead mercedes benz ml320, injectors blowing nice job, paid well to -going to the bigger turbo funds.wanted to wire ecu in but forget to get my tools from work so that buggered that up.

the 509t led bulbs will only do the clocks and the heater surrounds...but I have found a german ebay site that sells ready made led window switches and sunroof switches.. I will post a link later..
or you can solder the switches but they seem to be very fidly!!! and I am mr unlucky with soldering!!
