Title: seat ibiza dial's...info wanted
Post by: boneybradley on 24 February 2008, 15:02
i have being offered some ibiza cupra dials which are same fitting and look as the mk3 dials..
the problem i have are did the ibiza have mfa? as the guy who's offered me them didnt understand what i meant... and i guess cupra.net may not respond like asking here... anybody know or fitted these to their mk3 :undecided:

yes they do, i was offered them at the same time as when i got my annie dials (they looked exactly the same and had the maf as mine did)  think the only difference was they had 150mph on them and they lit up in red (i think)

i wanted the aniversary ones tho and the seat ones were a little tatty so i left them, kid only wanted 20 quid for them but i was lucky enough to get my annie ones for 20 quid delivered from a mate in scotland :)

how come u taking your dials out anyhow, thought u had some aftermarket jobbies

I fancy changing them again.... (i have 3 different sets at the mo!! allthough 1 is stripped so I can try and repair them) they are 140mph and silver dials with different lighting to vw's.. and look much more o.e and pro than my current one's and they should just plug in?

It had till i swapped it to my original...

so you are wanting the seat ones coz they look more OE, thats exactly whyi wanted the silver aniversary dials, which i guess are the same as the colour concept items...

i had to have my mileage corrected to my current mileage as the aniversary dials were only showing 60 odd K and i wanted my clocks to be the same as what my old ones were so all my paperwork for the car ties up etc, this cost me 20 quid to do, a guy came to my work and did it in seconds, the clocks have to be out of the car to do this..

i really want 16v dials but these seat ones are cheap and that bit different to normal..... and i have got a responce saying there mfa dials too which is good... proper mk3 silver dials sell for loads of £Â£Ã‚£ or going by my experience the lcd's stop working!! (3 sets and counting) and the ibiza ones are much later and should have loads of life left

 yeah i was really lucky getting mine so cheep, but it was off a mate, they usually go for 50 quid upwards

the 16v / Vr6 ones wont work as they are 160 mph, they will read wrong so iv been told, could be wrong but i did ask alot of people when i was getting mine so just bear that in mind

maybe if you can change the speed sensor with the clocks they will work correct ,dont know for sure mind

i was told by a well known vw specialist the 16v clocks work fine and read correct as long as you match the starting point up...0-160 works but the 10-160 don't!
Title: Re: seat ibiza dial's...info wanted
Post by: kells on 24 February 2008, 18:03
i dunno, wouldnt really like to try personally as its hard to calibrate them correctly...i was told otherwise but as i say i dont 100 percent know, i was just saying bear it in mind as they may not read correctly but you obvioulsy already know this

i just had my next door neighbour round, he is a techncian at VW dealer in leeds, should have asked him to see if he knew....!

but  not only have i got vital info on the lass i fancy at the dealer , he is also gonna help me drop a 20vt into my mk 3 when i get the engine, he is gonna bring all the tools from the dealer hahaha

just need to get the engine, wont be for a while tho as i have alot on but will save me $$$$$$

1.8t conversion is a bottom less money pit ,i'm looking at bigger turbo now lol ,but it has to be done keep the jap cars at bay

you will never keep the jap cars at bay my man...you will however be forever trying to keep up with them....

but i only want the 20vt so its a bit of a suprise for anyone thinking im running a standard 8v, keeping the car looking OE u see

i have my jap car for speed, which will be over 200 BHP soon in a car that weigh's less than a pack of regal hahahaha

Golfs are too heavy to beat the (serious) jap cars...my swift is a hell of alot faster than golfs with more than 100 BHP than the little fella

but i think a 20vt in a mk 3 is alot better than having a VR6 with its fuel consumption, i have had a VR before and felt its performace didnt match the price u pay to own/run it

my old man has a mk4 20vt and its as good on fuel as my mk 3 GTI

Out of interest tho Saul, how much of a job was the conversion??  did u do it or pay someone???
Title: Re: seat ibiza dial's...info wanted
Post by: saul79 on 24 February 2008, 19:32
i did it all my self.i wasnt willing to pay someone to do it when i'm a vw trained mechanic, mine will keepp up with most kells, 600bhp should be enough to keep most at bay,

i would avoid this engine code if you buy one though as all the engines used for conversions are agu from the golf ,there is alot more wirng on my engine than the agu so more complecated to do ,which i find out the hard way  but its sorted now wiring it in the next few days

they are all 156 bhp, or 180 bhp, ill grab whichever i can and use the standard ecu to start with but have it remapped bt superchips

it was the wiring i am concearned with, but my dude from VW says its not a problem

HAHAH, your not wrong, but i figure the mk4 1.8t is the same group as my 8v, and if i got one now, my insurance wont change.

So a 1.8t in a mk3? much difference?
Title: Re: seat ibiza dial's...info wanted

much difference as in what ?

much difference as in what ?

Price of the policy. If my Mk3 8v is the same to insure as a mk4 1.8t

Puttin a 1.8t into my mk3. Would it affect the insurance greatly?
Title: Re: seat ibiza dial's...info wanted
Post by: boneybradley on 24 February 2008, 20:01
a mk4 will cost me another £62 to insure and I'm old!!...dont believe same insurance groups mean same price! try using confused.com and check it out
and you would need a specialist insurer that lets you modify your car...
Title: Re: seat ibiza dial's...info wanted
Post by: saul79 on 24 February 2008, 20:02
they didnt do a mk 3 with a 1.8t so you wouldnt be able to insure it through a normal insurance broker i will be using hic/adrian flux to insure mine

well im doing the conversion anyhow, so ballocks to it, im 31 now so insurance for me isnt a problem to be honest, ill be looking towards the end of the year when i do it as i will have some free time and so will by VW technician pal from next door (small world eh :))

i would have been happy to leave the golf as it is but i really like the old dear, and all i get is good words said about it, even he said he aint seen many mk 3s as straight as mine, bearing in mind mine is a early Mk 3 (aug 1993)

will be pretty cool with the 20vt installed with the OE+ look going on

i use adrian flux for my modified jap car, i had to fill out a huge documentary for it with loads of pics etc, valued at 6.5k, costs me 350 a year with 11 years NCB and protected NCB, its currently on lock up cover as its stored so that only cost 53 quid a year, if i want to use it i have to ring them and change it back as lock up cover insures it against everything but been driven on the public highway

I would love to do this anyways. But maybe i will just get a mk3 or 4 with one already in it. As it sounds like a big hole for money.

yep same engine as in the skodas and audis early golfs are 150 and the seats from the same period are 156 .

yes she runs on the stadard mangement but not very well lol
so i got the qpeng one which is easier to map as he has maps there so i send my ecu to him and he reflashes it to what ever turbo you have on it (as long as its vag) ko3,ko3s and ko4 .anything else i need to take car to him to find a suitable map.
