Any build week 36ers seen any change to the tracker yet?
-
Well I am week 35 (01/09/10) and it's still showing as 'Build week confirmed' Your order has been confirmed for production week commencing 01/09/2013
I expect it to change soon?
-
My tracker is showing the same, "Build Week Confirmed Your order has been confirmed for production week commencing 01/09/2013"
Really want it to say "Build in Progress" Maybe tomorrow it will say that (he hopes!)
-
Here hoping Sam!
I would be amazed if ours did not change at the same time mate.
-
It’s not officially late until Sat night/Sun morning switch over, at which point the tracker will probably default to “build in progress” (like it did with the BW33ers at the turn of BW34). If your BW36 car switches on the tracker on Sunday morning, you might want to ring VW UK early next week to see if it has actually been started.
Some BW33 cars were made early on in BW33 – if no BW36ers are getting built in BW36 (as it seems here), then that would suggest to me that VW are more behind in BW36 than they were in BW33 and that they haven’t been closing the backlog in the last 4 weeks since shutdown.
If your actual car build week is a few weeks later than confirmed BW then you might have to pester VW UK to try for “priority shipping”. That might see your GTI/GTD jump the shipping queue over a standard Golf that has only had an order to build wait of 8 or 10 weeks.
-
Guys im a BW34er and in my experience and others in BW33 you will most likely update on Saturday night.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Mine read Build in progress for 16/17 days before it changed today ( ) to in Transit.
I was told by VW CS that there is a 10 day - 2 week delays for all build weeks at the moment therefore its a Buildfortnight. You could be one of the lucky ones who get a build and in transit in a matter of days.

Priority Shipping - I will have to call today and see if this can be arranged.

Mine changed to Build In Progress at the start of BW34 and its still the same
The dealer says as soon as he can that he will be getting priority shipment, this car was an original order for the dealer way back when the order book opened, I hijacked it end of June and changed the spec, he says third week of Sept latest to be sat in it
-
I am a BW 36 and mine is still not showing Build in Progress yet? It appears there is more delay to look forward to. Just when you get your hopes up and start to get excited, they are dashed again. Will let you know as soon as mine changes.

Yes unfortunately due to them being a couple of weeks behind it might not change to in progress until Sunday morning  But that may just be the default behaviour of the tracker which happened for me. I was 33 and wasn't built until week 35.
Whether they're trying to make time up in the shipping time or unless I was just lucky, but I went into transit 29/08/13 (4 week message), It was then at the docks 31/08/13 (3 week message), on a boat 04/09/13 (10 day message) and now in UK 05/09/13
-
I've never known such a massive f4ck up in all my 39yrs

Hi Dully
Looking at your location did you order from Lookers/Vertu on Outer Circle? It's just that you mentioned the dealer will try to get you priority shipping and if so I will have to give them a ring too, as I'm BW35 and still showing "Build In Progress".

Blades72 ....... My order was placed with Marshalls at Sunny Scunny it was an original order for the Grimsby branch for stock which I took over. It is worth a chat with Lookers to see what they can do, I am still Build In Progress though and it has been like that since 16th August

Fellow Lincs peops you are the lucky ones - i'm still awaiting a BW41 confirmation from ordering mid May!

Saw someone a bit luckier yesterday, can't believe my eyes when I saw a pure white 3 door in a village near me, hope he ain't local
-
Still no luck with the tracker. I am getting Build Week commences 01/09/13, but build still has not started and after tonight, this is obviously no longer the case. Wish they would just get their act together.
-
I can't even get that. it can't find my order number.
-

The tracker being down usually means only one thing
That its knackered
-
Tracker is also rejecting my tracking number. It seems the Tracker is about as reliable as their dates
-
This must be a record though - its never been down for this long before (discounting the actual upgrade they did)
-
Guys the tracker is up and running again. For some strange reason as I have stated in another thread my Build week has miraculously rolled over to build in progress this morning at 7:35am on Sunday. It looks as if the Tracker is going to roll over automatically for us Week 36ers. So we will have no way of telling if the car is actually being built until we see the In Transit part of the tracker light up? Monkey Hanger on the other thread claims it could be 6 weeks from original build week to us picking up the car. This does seem like it could be right. 2 weeks to build (due to delays at Factory), and 4 Weeks in Transit to day of pick up.
If I love my Golf enough to buy another after, in years to come. I will make sure I am better prepared for these long waits and order it prematurely. This way it will come on time
-
I'm in the same boat. My BW36 has also moved to Build in Progress. I'm gonna wait until mid week and give VW Exec office a ring for an update. See if anything is actually happening.
-
I have some info on why a lot of us are getting delayed Build In Progress. I had a Week 36 Build Week Confirmed and my Build was to commence on Week Commencing 01/09/13. However my car has not been built yet and the Tracker rolled over automatically on 08/09/13 Sunday morning at midnight. I contacted my dealer and they have had info that the delay of building my car as with many others is actually due to the back log of sorting out the cars damaged in the hailstorm a while ago.
As with many others on this forum I am getting a little frustrated and annoyed with the lack of info. However I have come up trumps as I have wangled some free luxury mats and boot liner out of the delay. Now just to get the car to put them in.
-
Good post Brenbo. VW know (from all the calls to the exec) that they have GTIs with months of waiting already, why can't the regular Golfs on 8 week lead time absorb the extra delay and the GTIs be prioritised?
Yeah yeah I know the answer...
-
I was a bw36 and mine is in the Build in progress stage, been on order now since mid april...
Not the longest ive waited for a car yet....My focus St about 5 years ago took 8 months to arrive :undecided:
-
I thought in the article we read about the hailstorm damage that there was specific comment as to how this would not cause any further delays as it was being handled by an external company.
As usual, you keep hearing conflicting things and then dont know what to believe.
-
I was told by a VW salesman (not mine) that they've known about these delays for ages but have been specifically told by VW UK to fob off the customer. More than their job's worth to tell the truth (the salesmen that is).
This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. I was also told that they're not allowed to tell the customer that their cars were in the hailstorm and to blame it on factory delays instead while they get repaired.
Obviously all of this is "allegedly"
-

Thank you Angus Deayton.
-
My VW dealer only found out about the Hail Storm damage when they enquired about my car today. They had no idea it happened until today. I suspect all Build Week 36ers will have Build in Progress now and no idea when their cars are actually being built. I was told it will be sometime this week, but I will not hold my breath until I have some hard facts it has started build.

Mate, they've all known about it since it happened. Internal documents, emails etc. Honestly, it's not worth their job to talk about it to the customer.

I think that VW UK forget that we have a little thing called the internet. I do get the impression that dealerships very much have to tow the line to whatever VW UK dictate, so you'll never get the truth out of them, no matter how much your dealer wants to say "i'm sorry, but it really isn't our fault, it's VW's".

That's what I consider a scandal. They are actually trying to swindel their customers. I'm making a note not to buy any VW with a 13 or 63 plate just in case.

-
Exec gave me a ring last night to tell me the reason that it has been delayed for a further 2 weeks was due to a factory shut down. I think this is about the 7th different excuse that forum members have had now. They must have a little lie book that they use for difficult calls.
-
I think they are only a week behind now as my bw 36 started being built on sunday possibly monday.

Is this confirmed with VW? My tracker went to 'Build in Progress' on Sunday as well but when I spoke to them yesterday they still said it was a two week delay. They said they hoped that it would go into build on the 20th.
-
I think the new tracker auto rolls cars into being built a week after the confirmed date. A few people have mentioned this change occuring on a sunday morning where it is pretty obvious that there is no work being done.

this was confirmed by my salesman. it was at stage 3 which is just before paint shop. im expecting mine to be built completely by the weekend at the latest.

I saw the screen that said stage 3 on the salesman's comp when I picked mine up. I reckon it should be built by now or overnight if the 30 hour rule is applied.

I hope so MH. something interesting that Mick said about shipping was that as it was a customer order the shipping was quicker. if it's for stock no priority is given for shipping. don't know how true that is.

Does non-priority shipping on a stock car/demo really matter when they're getting built 10 weeks sharper than the customers orders?
If it is now finished and they pull their finger out, you might get yours in the next 2 weeks or so.
-
moved to in transit overnight. what's the best site to ship watch?
-
Marinetraffic.com or port of Tyne's own website that should show expected arriveals for the next 6 days (sometimes ships appear there just 2 days before they're due in, as "city of Rotterdam" did with mine).
city of Paris and city of Rome have gone/are going today so city of Rotterdam is your next feasable bet.
-
cheers, i'll keep a lookout.
-
My Tracker status has also changed this morning to Built and left the Factory.... seems to be moving along now afer months of nothingness
-
tracker change overnight to 3 weeks. so it's now sitting at Emden.
-
My car has also just changed to built and left the factory!
Not before time but at least there seems to be light at the end of this very long tunnel!!

Yes it does. Been discussed many times on previous posts. 4 weeks = not booked in at Emden yet; 3 weeks = waiting for a ship, officially received at Emden; 10 days = it is on a ship to the UK.

Hi all, Mine moved from 'Build in Progress' this morning to 'In Transit'. Does anyone know if the tracker just automatically moves over with the In Transit section as it does with Build in Progress? Don't want to get my hopes up that my car actually exists yet.

As far as I'm aware this part isn't automated, so if its changed to in transit it's on the way to Emden!

Great. Now i'm sure the wait will get more frustrating knowing that the car actually exists.
-
oh yes, much more frustrating
-
So far as im concerned with the Tracker, I am still showing Build In Progress. I am also a Build Week 36 so I guess it is not an automatic roll over for everyone on the same week, although it rolled over on Sunday morning again?
-
Yep, was the Sunday morning. Thats what got me wondering. Ill give the exec office another ring tomorrow and see what they have to say. Hopefully they will just confirm that its on its way.
-
Lets hope so mate. It's about time one of us had some luck and progress. I've seen paint dry quicker than VW can build a GTI
-
lol yea its a slowwwwww process, this might be the worst part, knowing its built and just sitting somewhere now..
Mine has not changed on the tracker now for a week , still in transit.
-
Mines not even in transit yet. Maybe it's built, maybe it's not, who knows, I don't know if even VW know to be honest?
-
Any BW36 coming through? Mine is still stuck in the same status on the tracker..
Now approaching October ive sent an email to Vw uk to find out again whats happening, dont expect much info back though
-
Hi I am build wk 36 and tracker changed last night to car now in the uk.
Off on holiday in a weeks time so dealer is trying to get car to me before then!
The car was ordered on 16th May so not too bad, Surely bw36 cars will all arrive in the dealers within the next couple of weeks?
-

Yours is more than likely stuck with mine somewhere Aidey, mine's BW35 and still showing at 3 weeks!
-
Very annoying, im getting to the stage now where im starting to lose interest.. as strange as that sounds..

I am build week 36. The car however was actually built in week 38 because of the two week delay. On the Thursday of my actual Build week, 38 (19th Sept) it went to 'In Transit' on the tracker and I am picking it up tomorrow from my dealer. Just goes to show that the last few tracking steps can take a week if it falls in line with boat timetables etc.
-

I know what you mean, even though it shouldn't be too long I'm getting a little p#ssed off with the wait now, especially when I see BW36 & 37 arriving in the country (pleased for those that are arriving though).
-
the two week delay is a load of boll4cks. my week 36 was built the last day of 36, shipped 4 days later and in the UK and I picked it up on Tuesday this week. seems some 36's are getting built and others aren't but they can't say it's due to a 2 week factory delay if some are being built.
-
No idea whats going on with mine, i dont get a reply from Vw going to try the dealer again today, don't think im being odd by asking the dealer for an update to find out whats going on??
-
keep badgering and asking its he only way. VW UK are useless and not much help at all so your dealer should know everything anyway.
-
Guys call the vw executive office the number was posted by matchboy on the ship tracking thread. They don't like ppl calling it. Just make up some crap and say I am now looking to escalate this to a complaint. They will look into it. It's what I did. Your bw36 and it's been 3 weeks if I'm right that is a joke.
-
When I've spoken to VW Cust Serv for delivery updates they have always been adament that the dealer's status screen has more info than they do...
-
I spoke to VWUK yesterday about my BW35 and why it's been stuck at port for 8 days now and why the delay in my build. Regarding the build they gave me their 3rd different excuse to why it was delayed (had the factory shutdown, hailstorm and dynaudio). As regarding the wait at port they said it can be sat there 1-15 days and I'll just have to wait for a ship!! Just getting sick and tired of the wait now and the bull#hit responses from VW.
-
MY dealer told me yesterday my car is finally built and in transit. If it makes the ship on October 1st I could get it in 2 weeks time. However if not, I am unsure when it will turn up?
A word of advice to those that are unsure of their cars progress. Keep pestering your VW Dealer for info on the progress of your car. It is the only way of finding anything out. My car was built and in transit this week but the tracker was still saying Build in Progress until today when it changed to In Transit.
-
I feel a sorry for my dealer, hes a really nice guy but cant find me any more info than what i have already, and thats what the tracker says.
-

It looks like you and I are in the situation. I too was b/w 35, however my car was not started until the 14th September and finally complete on the 17th. It has now been at Emden since the 19th. I also gave VW a ring yesterday to be given the same excuses as you. The DynaAudio thing just does not hold water, as I don't have that specced. I can't accept the factory shutdown explanation either as this will have been planned well in advance. In any other industry if you say you will do something by a set-date and time you deliver, if not you inform the customer and make amends...VW just appear to shrug their shoulders. I was so angry after the call that I serioulsy considered cancelling (although I realised later I wouldl be cutting off my nose...)
As of today that is exactly 20 weeks since my order and it took my call to VW to get them moving on a courtesy car.
Like most here, it's not so much the delay (which may or may not be VW fault), but complete failure on VW's part to keep me up-to-date, and treat me like a customer who has spend the best part of £30k not 30p.
I see that there are a few ships due in Emden over the next few days that appear to be going via Grismby and Sheerness...Nektar Highway, Viking Espernza, Autorunner....let's hope we see some progress soon.

I'm probably looking at November if I'm lucky! Yes, we have and it's been a bumpy ride, but smooth roads for you from now on

Mine is still showing 3 weeks and In Transit. I was told by my dealer there are 3 ships transporting VW cars this week to Sheerness and my car is booked to go on one of them. However it is Friday already and no news yet? Yet again more delays I fear. Why is it so drawn out and long winded for some of us to get our cars.

My build week 34 arrived at the dealers on Wednesday this week. It is only a couple of miles away from me but I can't collect it yet as they cannot release the car without a Tax disc (which they applied for on Tuesday).
Hopefully I will be able to pick it up tomorrow, otherwise it will be Monday. Quite annoying to see week 36'ers beating me to collection, but still happy for you (or trying to be).

Some week 36's are still in build!!
It's a terribly unreliable system that only serves to alienate and frustrate it's customers.

That is nonsense if that is what they are telling you...

Buying a new vehicle from a motor trader
From today when a motor dealer registers and licenses a new vehicle, DVLA Swansea will print the tax disc and send it directly to the address of the registered keeper, the motor dealer or the fleet operator (depending on the option the dealer chooses when they register the new vehicle). The motor dealer will no longer hold stocks of tax discs on their premises. This means that the motor dealer may not give you the tax disc when you buy a newly registered vehicle.
New legislation now allows a vehicle to be used without displaying a tax disc for up to 14 calendar days from the date of first registration
