Guys the tracker is up and running again.  For some strange reason as I have stated in another thread my Build week has miraculously rolled over to build in progress this morning at 7:35am on Sunday.  It looks as if the Tracker is going to roll over automatically for us Week 36ers.  So we will have no way of telling if the car is actually being built until we see the In Transit part of the tracker light up?  Monkey Hanger on the other thread claims it could be 6 weeks from original build week to us picking up the car.  This does seem like it could be right.  2 weeks to build (due to delays at Factory), and 4 Weeks in Transit to day of pick up.

If I love my Golf enough to buy another after, in years to come. I will make sure I am better prepared for these long waits and order it prematurely. This way it will come on time

I'm in the same boat. My BW36 has also moved to Build in Progress. I'm gonna wait until mid week and give VW Exec office a ring for an update. See if anything is actually happening.

I have some info on why a lot of us are getting delayed Build In Progress.  I had a Week 36 Build Week Confirmed and my Build was to commence on Week Commencing 01/09/13.  However my car has not been built yet and the Tracker rolled over automatically on 08/09/13 Sunday morning at midnight.  I contacted my dealer and they have had info that the delay of building my car as with many others is actually due to the back log of sorting out the cars damaged in the hailstorm a while ago.

As with many others on this forum I am getting a little frustrated and annoyed with the lack of info.  However I have come up trumps as I have wangled some free luxury mats and boot liner out of the delay.  Now just to get the car to put them in.

Good post Brenbo.  VW know (from all the calls to the exec) that they have GTIs with months of waiting already, why can't the regular Golfs on 8 week lead time absorb the extra delay and the GTIs be prioritised?

Yeah yeah I know the answer...

I thought in the article we read about the hailstorm damage that there was specific comment as to how this would not cause any further delays as it was being handled by an external company.

As usual,  you keep hearing conflicting things and then dont know what to believe.

I was told by a VW salesman (not mine) that they've known about these delays for ages but have been specifically told by VW UK to fob off the customer. More than their job's worth to tell the truth (the salesmen that is).

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. I was also told that they're not allowed to tell the customer that their cars were in the hailstorm and to blame it on factory delays instead while they get repaired.

Obviously all of this is "allegedly"

My VW dealer only found out about the Hail Storm damage when they enquired about my car today.  They had no idea it happened until today.  I suspect all Build Week 36ers will have Build in Progress now and no idea when their cars are actually being built.  I was told it will be sometime this week, but I will not hold my breath until I have some hard facts it has started build.
