Hey I have a V reg 2.0 non turbo gti now I'm wanting more power I mean quite bait more now I had been looking at a vr6 2.8 174bhp and then turboing it ?? Or do I source a r32 engine and put that it ??
Thoughts please ? It's only used as a second car so it not like its used everyday , I am used to driving tho my evo which was running 380bhp !!
-
Why would u put the mk3 vr6 engine in it when there's the mk4 v6?? Seriously u want power drop a 1.8t in
Would be the cheapest option. V6 for note but in all seriousness without chucking serious coin at a v6 engine u won't get mega gains like u would from a 1.8t
-
I used to have an audi tt with the 1.8t 180bhp , is that the engine you mean ??

better using the 225 bhp lump from a tt or s3  or just selling the car buyin something turbo to start with less hassle

What Barry said....
-
I know what ya saying ill look for a 225 engine !! I wanna keep my shell and I love the car so dnt wanna part with her so I would rather spend the coin and get her how I want her , thanks for the advice guys !!

mate dont throw over a grand buyin bits to convert your car its just not worth the hassle or do you love your car more than money :undecided:
-
Pretty sure you had a thread before and we told you get rid and buy a 1.8t at the end of the day ure mk4 won't be no Evo

As said. Ive spend loads on my mk4 enough money for a evo easy, but when its finished it will be one of a kind and ill love it as I love Golfs and that what I want but when my mate takes me out in his fq300 and power slides round a roundabout in the dry (private road of course) you do realise that no matter what you do to the mk4 it will never handle like that, ever!
But im still going to tune the golf
-
If you are determined don't waste £1000 getting a 225 lump
Get a aum or similar for £400 and then spend the 600 on bits like a fmic, bigger turbo etc

or just buy the R32 as after the amount of money you put into the rebuild you may as well of, just a thought

or just buy the R32 as after the amount of money you put into the rebuild you may as well of, just a thought
And then u have spent that money and got 245bhp... the money spent on a r32 would get you 300bhp plus out of a mk4 and change!!!

£6500 on a R32......or £1500 on a 1.8t and £5000 on bits you will be hitting 350bhp not 245!

-

As I said don't waste your money buying the 225 lump with its redial outs scene tax
It's the same lump as the lower power models.

my s3 was same to tax as the golf 1.8t
-
Ridiculous "scene tax"*
As in you pay £600-£1000 more for a 225 lump than a 150 lump because they are apparently "better" although really the only big difference is the turbo. The lump and pretty much the same.
-
Just buy a car with it all done. Plenty of other cars with good shells out there
-
I have approx 2k to buy and engine fit it and buy mods for it , so that's the reason I want people's verdict on which engine to buy !
I dnt wanna sell it and buy a quicker 1 , I want this 1 doing its just seeing which is the best engine to put in and to tune up , I know it's never gonna be as quick as the evo . I'm just looking for maybe around the 300 bhp ish
-
Its your money
-
So what engine do you recommend ?
-
Well with that cash forget an r32 engine!! 1.8t ftw
-
You won't hit 300 bhp with £2k :undecided:
-
I know that lol I'm saying I got 2k to get engine and have it fitted in my 2 k budget and then ill fund my mods .
-
Just save up more money and get it done properly if you dont want to buy another car

It's only 6hrs to you just thinking if I can get a trailer I could fetch it
-
or phone up rtech with a pencil and paper and ask them when it would take and costs involved with modding an engine for the 300+ mark. i know a local lad is planning on a R32 engine and twin turbo's how long or how much it will be i have no idea but he seems happy to plow on with it
