What's this on my inlet manifold? It was plugged in
(http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h364/murrayminf/DSC_0182_zpsfe5c36c7.jpg)
My other manifold doesn't have the bracket for it

Cheers

Didn't have that on mine  guess its a latter manifold some sort of sensor. Inlet temp to help with fuelling? As a guess

Nope.
It's the engine bay temperature sensor for the run-on fans as fitted to cars with Air Con (cars with the twin fans set-up).

Ah bugger, so I can't use my other manifold then

You could...
But you'll never have the fan cut in to cool things down.
This may not bother you...as not all 16vs have the functionality anyway.

I had this on mine 97 with aircon, allways wondered what it was, fans would sometimes kick in 20mins after switch off.

Does it take the reading from the manifold itself or from the engine bay? If its the later I could try find somewhere to put it. I'm guessing its the first tho :undecided:

The clue is the fact that it's bolted to the manifold!
It's measuring manifold temperature.
It needs to be bolted to something that's earthed too...or you will never get the switch to make.

Cant you just weld something on there?

Why not just use the manifold with the sensor mount cast into it?
