if you bank with natwest it appears that they are having problems and funds have not been put into ppl's accounts so just be aware that if you get paid today there is a possibility that your pay has not gone into your account like the wifes hasnt just hope they sort it soon
-
anyone know if this affects barclays, cause i went and put £15 of petrol in this morning, both my credit card (which has a £3000 limit on which im nowere near) and my debit card which should have a hundred or so quid in were both not working. had to leave my phone there go home look around the house(noone in so couldnt borow money) eventually found £15 in 10ps and stuff and went back and paid

Easy enough to find out, log into your accounts online

I heard on the radio that it was only Natwest and in turn its affected RBS. Something about a software update they done that went wrong which has meant payments havnt been processed.
Im with Barlcays and its been fine all day. Unfortunately Barclays has been so fine i could pay British Gas £275.... Damn!

no weekend for me
Same here, trust it happen on payday

if you go into your local branch they can access your money and give it to you so they told us when we phoned i dont get how they can do it if they cant see your balance on the screen
-
If i was with Natwest i would just go into my overdraft and then tell them to cover the fee's as its their fault.
-
Ahh well its only money, just have to wait a bit longer for my wages, worse things have append at sea

This^^^
They opened their branches early this morning for this reason.
NatWest says more than 1,000 branches will be open until 19:00 BST on Friday. Branches normally open on Saturdays will extend opening until 18:00.
Saturday branches will also open on Sunday from 09:00 to midday.

Some people have savings/family/credit to get them through. Some people don't. If you have been paid today the money will be there and you can get it over the counter if you need it.
-
wife as just been to the branch and taken money out with no problems they can see what as gone in but it does not show your total balance or summat and they are staying open late for ppl to go into get their money
and just to add the hole in the wall still wont work even if your pay as gone in but still worth trying
-
Just took some out the cash machine as norm wohoo :smug:
-
great stuff maybe they have resolved the situation
-
There was a recent thread about which bank should I open an account with. To all those that put Natwest.... ha ha!
hsbc ftw
-
halifax for me been with them since i left school with no probs
-
TBF, it was just a software problem that could happen to anyone.
I think the measures they've taken to get things back up, and to get customers reassured and not out of pocket has been pretty commendable. They've opened branches all weekend and for much extended hours, and they're doing all they can to ensure people are not without money in each instance. Anyone that has bills to pay are being re-imbursed provided they show evidence as well. You may say this is the least they could do, but you can guarantee Lloyds, Halifax or whoever would not go to these lengths. I've been with Natwest for about 18 years now, and absolutely never had a problem at all. I honestly think their customer services are second to none in the banking game.
-
yes its possible it can happen to any bank i agree and natwest seem to be pretty good to bank with as the wifes with them... this thread was not meant to be a debate on who is best just a heads up for those that were not aware of the situation

This royally fecked me up, my business accounts and personal account are with shatwest.
Messed up payroll and my rent, then the cheeky checkers sent me. A text saying I'd attempted to. Ale transactions without funds, and would be charging me £8 per returned transaction..... That's 17 payments.
They'd better be nice to me in branch on Monday!

they are open today and tommorow..

'Expert' on radio 4 reckoned that the problem has been caused by an outdated core computer system, natwest have recently rolled out a 'pingit' competitor and a cardless cash withdrawal system and the computers just fell over.

sorry if it sounded really brash Cully! :embarassed:
Im not trying to make excuses for them, I just genuinely think they are a good bank to be with. At the end of the day its a money making enterprise, therefore they want your money, and will do averytbing within their power to get it! I just think their customer service is actually very good, and having been a customer of theirs for so long, I would recommend them to anyone. Their obviously very skilled in the art of deception! lol.

just came across this thread yeah i really p!ssed me off on thursday as thats the day i get payed and i had been waiting all week to buy bits for my car. thursday came and my ballance was 0. i then went to natwest to find out why and they told me the systems were down but she agreed to give me £80 and said it would come out off my balance once everything was sorted wich is not to bad really. i was hoping she would loose the bit of paper she wrote it on

Really helped this weekend when my house deposit of 300 quid was meant to come back in whilst I was at a wedding in cornwall and could only just afford the petrol down....
-
Not being paid till Tuesday now cost of this cock up so will probably incur a few fees
