-
missed the first 15 mins :(
Nothing happened
-
did jeremy just compare a lambo to a golf there?
-
Making I chuckle. This is a lot better than the last 'special'.
The supercar thing should have BEEN the last special.
-
Proper Top Gear, loved it. Agree with DH this SHOULD have been the crimbo special.
Nick
-
Brilliant. TG at it's best
-
Agree with Nick  hopefully next weeks maintains the same. . .
-
not bad, but I did fall asleep on the sofa towards the end
-
That was one of the best episodes I have seen in a long time, excellent :afro:
-
Loved it

+1 - a welcome return to form
The Lambo spitting flames
And how hot were those carbon brakes?
-
Love the Lambo. Hammond and the recovery driver had me in stitches lol
-
Great episode, loved the sound of that lambo and seeing it spit flames!
-
Actual Sports car content shocker.
Downhill from here on then.... :undecided:
-
I wasn't particularly looking forward to it after ending up turning the India special off (couldn't stand to continue watching it).
But I must say I really enjoyed it, they'd got the balance of humour and cars right I thought.
Still fast forwarded through the stupid star in the car bit.
-
Hated the Indian Special but loved last night, was a great way to start the series.
That Will.I.Am guy seemed nice enough but dead boring. The car he designed look horrid too.
Loved James May face when he tried to talk to the lady park warden.

I liked William's car, not as something that I'd like to be seen in... but in the same way I like Aston Martin Lagondas, DeLoreans and Scirocco2s.
Maybe I just feel sorry for them?
-
I misssed it
I PLAYER it is!!
-
I didn't like how JC stood there at the end and was making jokes about looking smug cause he beat RH, JM is always a walk over, did you see that Lambo! That lambo compared the M600 is so different, I beat Hammond had a tougher time trying to get that thing round corners... especially with the non flappy paddle!
-
Noble factory is literally 2 roads away from me, well it was, I think they've moved as they kept getting broken into, well it is Barwell after all..
-
i thought it was a good show  after the sh*t india/xmas programme

I thought it would be crap, but luckily the first one is saw was the gt2rs gettin drifted round Californias streets, brilliant camera work, looks more like a movie.
And agree with what others said, best top gear there's been for a while, and anyone else think will.i.ams car looked like a chavved up audi quattro?
-
Bollocks I totally forgot about it, what day is the repeat? My internet connection is currently too sh!te to watch it on the iplayer.
Top Gear USA is fvcking dire.
-
nuts I totally forgot about it, what day is the repeat? My internet connection is currently too sh!te to watch it on the iplayer.

Agreed. Overly enthusiastic, arrogant yanks.
But then again, not much can be said for the presenters of the UK one either...
-

Top gear USA is sh!te
-
That topgear USA is total sh!t. They use the same gaggs they say in the uk one but the gaggs only work with a dry British sence of humar. So sound totaly stupid when they copy them.
-
Well tonights episode was pretty gash....
-
chinese stig was hilarious!
-
The china segment was interesting and probably will come true though more like designed in uk assembled I'm china like apple products
-
I was entertained enough
-
chinese stig was hilarious!
Yeah man! I laughed
-
I'v seen better.. But i still enjoyed it.. Should of called him Bruce Stig

Hate Hate Hate Hate the Rover MG, TRAVESTY!
-
Do TG/BBC just use soundtracks all the time? For a few seasons they used the Fight Club soundtrack and this season (and I think the last one too) they used the Tron Legacy soundtrack.
-
Hate Hate Hate Hate the Rover MG, TRAVESTY!
Why's that? They're great to drive. Designed and engineered in Britain. Good looking and taking the btcc by storm this year too.
I dont see why people are so critical of them, is its because they are Chinese owned now?
-
Great to drive? - Compared to what?
Designed and engineered in Britain? - We have historically been shiit at building cars.
Good looking? - Looks are subjective.
BTTC? - Don't expect the 888 prepared cars to be anything like the road cars.
As they said on TG last night, to two "new" models are based on cars that are over 10 years old. The game has moved on since then. A lot.
-
I was pretty amused by last nights antics. I now have a tad more respect for American racing, Matt Le Friends has gone up in my estimation, and Im now sure i dont want to live in China. Some of the Jeremy's comments about their safety tests, regulations etc were pretty funny!
-
Enjoyed it hugely, best series for a long time so far. Hope they keep it up. Funny, but not forced, informative, fast cars sideways, james may kicked in the plums. Ticked all the boxes.
Nick

I enjoyed the chinese bit

Agreed.
Good episode.
The funniest bit was when Clarkson and May were bouncing down the street in the red 3 wheeler with 12bhp. Has us in fits of laughter, reminding me of the Peel P1 episode. And then they said it was made in 2003/04!
I think the Chinese "Attack Stig" was bit overdone, in the same was that Family Guy elongates a joke to the point that it's no longer funny.
But otherwise good.

because they are in no way shape or form designed or engineered in britain. It's well documented that they lied about it. Also did you know that MG no longer stands for Morris garage, no, it stands now for Modern Gentleman. Therefore NOT and MG. They should paint them all yellow!

on the SAIC website when they started knocking out the LE 500, its a joke. A stain on the face of the motor trade. I feel quite passionatly about the whole situation. Their just masda copies. I wish the indians had bought it instead, just look at jaguar, think of what could've been, Their attempts are just shocking! But then again im bias as i hate china! I won't comment any more on the subject as i'll say something that could land me in court lol

Fair enough, I think I would be fighting a losing battle in defending them on a VW forum anyway.
Im off to have my second look at one in about an hour anyway :lipsrsealed: :lipsrsealed:
-
lol sorry, wasn't having a go, i'm a tad patriotic and believe in British engineering. i get quite vocal sometimes.

Hmmm.
History of Motorsport content (Nascar)
Analysis (sort of) of car industry (China)
General point less d1cking about...kept to a minimum.
So far so good.
-
Ive actually really enjoyed the last two episodes!! I hope it carries on like this.
-
I enjoyed it too. Thought Matt LeBlanc was dull as dishwater though! Frickin yanks, how are they up near the top of the leaderboard, that cant happen, the topgear test track has corners!
-
Forgot about it totally until I saw tophers FB status and by then I had something else on I wanted to watch. Doh!
Will have to be an iPlayer jobbie again.

On now

Agreed
-
yep back to the titting about
-
I'm a huge Top Gear fan and must admit I do normally love the 'titting about' they often do but tonights episode was just.... dreadful well the main feature of it was anyway. Was clearly not funny at all :P Having said that I think Clarkson did a decent job with the car chase  Hammond on the hand....
-
I really enjoyed it :undecided:
-
Best bit was 10 seconds of Bella lugosi's dead by Bauhaus during the Vauxhall Nova bit
-
Corsa looked class and they lost the plot again after that..had a few giggles but still...had high hopes after episode 1 but let down again...the scripted aspect even with the director was cringe
Brian

Very strong view, I think you can get cars that handle as well if not better plus still have a ride left, also it might be the best Corsa ever but £22k  plus no matter what happens your going to look a complete dick driving it.
It is the kind of car you need to be or look about 18.
-
Best bit was 10 seconds of Bella lugosi's dead by Bauhaus during the Vauxhall Nova bit
God, it must have been bad, if that was the best bit!
Thom
-
VXR Corsa was smart not sure if I would spunk 22k on one though
-
Poor show on the whole, as it was recorded I even skipped some of the boring waffle during the stunt driving feature.
-
+1 wasn't great last night
-
The Corsa/Panda review at the beginning was probably the best bit. Nice to see something about cars that are affordable for normal people.
I'd agree on the price/image of the Corsa though, for £22k you'd want something with a bit more class. You're certainly into Golf GTI territory there.
The star in the reasonably priced car was ok, but Clarkson went a little too far with the gushing.
The stunt car chase.... I feel sorry for Ray Winston. The best bit was when they showed the final version that had been edited by someone who knew what they were doing.
I too was tempted to skip through some of this weeks show.
And during the "news", Clarkson saying he would shoot people in the head... just to prove the point that he can say what he wants and a give an opinion.
They did so well with the first 2 episodes.
-
I forgot to watch again and still haven't watched the previous weeks episode. Sounds like I'm not missing much :undecided:
-
I thought it was quite funny! The fake russian accents, hilarious stunt video cut and the obviously scripted parts.
Admitedly its not much of a car show anymore but its still entertaining and I really like it
-
give it 6 months and the dealers will be begging to get rid of the corsa nurburgs sub 16k
-
A change of format is desperately needed, its boring and predictable, and greedy in a way that the program only lets the 3 of them actually do anything... The Stig is kept at arms length, as is any other input from anyone else, ie, no other guest presenters, ever!
Shouldn't be too long now, before the BBC kill it off... its no longer a "Great" program
Thom

Why would it need guest presenters? i dont see ant n dec standing in for harry hill ever? or Lady Gaga getting in on Jeremy kyle

Speak for yourself.
As BBC 2's top programme I doubt they'll 'kill it off'.
http://www.barb.co.uk/report/weekly-top-programmes-overview?
Over 2 million more viewers than the programme in second place.
Looks like Top Gear is here to stay

I wouldn't bank on it, the BBC are renowned for doing hatchet jobs on big budget programs. In the past, various programs have made the jump to ITV, or other stations, only to be abandoned after a few runs. And also in some instances, the likes of ITV have bought the rights to a show, then soon after, it falls out of favor with the viewing public... nothing is safe!
Thom
-
Well i'd be gutted it they axed the show! It's the only program on TV i really enjoy watching, even if there are a few not so good episodes!
I vote Top Gear to stay!
-

Don't get me wrong, I'd be gutted too, its a great show, but atm its stuck in a rut... there seems to have been zero change to the format, for what, ten years now. It may well draw in millions of pounds, and have millions of viewers all over the world, but it remains one of the BBC's most expensive programs to produce, if the budget gets cut, what will happen then?
Thom
-
All it will take for it to get axed is for Clarkson to finnaly get too big for his boots and have a bust up with BBC producers. (Usually happens over money).
Watch this space.
-
Seeing as clarkson basically owns it, and seeing as it is their biggest show by far (nothing that big has ever been axed) i very much doubt its going anywhere.
Clarkson has more control in the BBC via topgear than you realise.
-
I agree, except Jonathan Ross got axed. OK the scapegoat of a reason was the live slip up, which in theory couldn't happen on top gear, but the reality was he was getting paid too much and the BBC had had enough.
-
I thought the episode was funny not sure why everyone is moaning so much
-
Dull.
-
it might be good if the cut the budget get them doing challenges in sh!tters and do a few more down to earth car bits and pieces
-
just get rid of hammond then it'll be fine
-
Top gear do need to use a new format, it seems like they make 1 great episode followed by a handful of dull, boring and predictable ones. They've simply run out of ideas now.
-
just read in the paper this weeks show they are driving up a mountain in some modified scooters.
could be funny :D
-
Sounds interesting.... Not :lipsrsealed:
-
have a feeling it said mobility scooters actually, but already thrown the paper in the bin so is now covered in all sorts of rubish so i dont fancy going to check, we will just have to wait :D
-
watched the second episode and it was funny, going to watch the 3rd this evening to see what all this fuss is about.
-
I doubt they would axe it, because A) it's too popular, B) it's worth a lot of money in licencing (both programme format to other channels worldwide and in merchandising) and C) because they axed it before, only for Channel5 to snap up the presenters and production team and produce a car programme while the BBC had no competition.
They would think twice about making that mistake again (although they might not have learnt).
Jonathan Ross wasn't technically axed. His contract ended and because of the controversy and his huge fee, the BBC decided not to renew his contract.
Clarkson isn't paid as much as Ross.
The TG budget has already been cut, that's why the series' are only 6 episodes now. They decided they would rather continue with the same size budget per episode but fewer episodes per series, than have more episodes with less spent on each.
Granted I think it does need a review of how it's spending the money, more stuff shot in the UK (eg: you don't need to go to Italy to film 3 hot hatches, there are some great roads in the UK) and so on.
And yes after 10 years it does need a little refresh, but what would you do to do that, whilst still keeping the bits everyone loves?
-
put more cars in it for a start, focus less on the presenters and more on the motors, each program used to be rammed with loads of different topics, now its the same layout every time, 1 car test, 1 stupid challenge and the studio bollox, im looking forward to being utterly dissapointed tonight, honestly don't know hwy i still watch it. Still have that glimmer of hope inside me that it might be a gem. but honestly haven't enjoyed one properly since they bought ex army machines and ripped those houses down. soooo funny!
-
Ferrari / BMW 1 series anyone?

the end was sooo funny with the benton sketch lmao

Going to stick my neck out here, I believe that when the video first appeared, it was widely reported for the first week or so, that the dogs name was Benton! after all, how would the guy shooting the video know what the dogs actual name was! I bet the video was uploaded to You tube long before the owner caught his naughty dog
Thom
-
What ever the name is Fenton/Benton... It's fecking funny
And it made me LOL on Top Gear also.

I enjoyed the latest ep, can anyone tell me why often on TG the lights on cars seem to be flashing? In the snowy bit in this ep both the front and rear lights on both cars appeared to be flashing on the slow motion sequences, why does that occur?

Some LED displays are multiplexed which means they are flashing on and off in a way that is not discernible to the naked eye and produces no visible flicker. However when the LEDs are viewed on TV they aren't in sync with the TV frame rate and as a result appear to flicker. It's like watching wagon wheels on an old western movie, the wheels appear to go backwards or forwards depending on how they sync with the 24 frames a second rate of the film, it's the same with the flicker of multiplexed LEDs and 25/30 frames a second TV pictures.
-
I liked how clarkson took a dig at the india special, at least they know they did bad!

Poor episode IMO. I'm really starting to dislike JC. He needs to move on.

Not a bad episode, though I missed the first 15 minutes.
I'm just bored of the super cars, they keep talking like any man on the street could afford one, when in reality none can!

I liked the blonde audience member who was standing behind Doctor Who during his interview

I didn't think it was a bad episode actually, not mind blowing but interesting and entertaining none the less.

or three cars and funny.
not three cars and no laughs

I thought it was good.

Impressed again tonight  These last two weeks have been pretty decent though I'm sad they haven't done a proper challenge this season (presume its coming next week)
-
I was at the filming of last night episode, It was good fun but would have prefered some super cars as things like the brutus dont really interest me, still a great day.
-
I really enjoyed last nights episode, the Aero engined Bentley was something else.
-
i thouht the show was ok and nothing more. the only bit that made me laugh was when Hamster went flat out in the 3 wheeler round that corner to beat Mays speed.

I was at the filming of last night episode, It was good fun but would have prefered some super cars as things like the brutus dont really interest me, still a great day.
does it cost to get tickets? and were can you purchaise? or is it like jeremy kyle, apply and they send you tickets for free.
Put your name down 2 year waiting list IIRC
2 years??? I applied at least 6 years ago...........
Wouldn't want to go and see it now mind unless they got hit on the head and showed something decent......

Simples, stop watching it and stop moaning about it.  Think you better start watching 5th gear more, seeing as its aimed at your age group. . .
Ill have your tickets when they arrive
-
I thought it was good.
This!
In my opinion it's still the best programme on TV and I look forward to it every Sunday!
-
Too many old farts on here who want to watch reviews on the lasted Ford Mondeo or the Lexus IS250, but still watch every episode and moan that it was sh!t week in week out :lipsrsealed:

I pay my TV license so I got every right to moan about it
I'm not interested in the latest Mondeo or cars like that (for which I'll watch 5th gear) but testing the latest supercars would be nice and not stuff I read a review on 6 months ago in EVO
I prefer the long road trips across Europe etc rather than dicking about on motorised scooters
-
It's either a very good episode or an absolute fail. I must admit i prefer the road trip ones also
-
So be honest... who's googled rally cross tonight?
i know i have, just applied for my msa club b licence!

I really liked last nights episode.
Raikkonen was a bit boring but still quite funny and Slash is a legend.
Really liked the rally cross bit too.

Who wants to here about Mondeos you can go and test drive one of them anytime you want. I do like the road trips though there the best bit
-
