In the snowy bit in this ep both the front and rear lights on both cars appeared to be flashing on the slow motion sequences, why does that occur?QuoteSome LED displays are multiplexed which means they are flashing on and off in a way that is not discernible to the naked eye and produces no visible flicker. However when the LEDs are viewed on TV they aren't in sync with the TV frame rate and as a result appear to flicker. It's like watching wagon wheels on an old western movie, the wheels appear to go backwards or forwards depending on how they sync with the 24 frames a second rate of the film, it's the same with the flicker of multiplexed LEDs and 25/30 frames a second TV pictures.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.
Not a bad episode, though I missed the first 15 minutes. I'm just bored of the super cars, they keep talking like any man on the street could afford one, when in reality none can!
... think there was something in the way but couldn't quite make it out
