That would b cruel,he is only 4

what happens when you connect it to the pc? the fact it turns on suggests it's not f**ked but maybe the iOS needs formatting.
if windows detects nothing, or unrecognised, then yes its naffed

Stick on ebay. People still buy broken ones. My old ipod classic 4 died on me and I still got £20 for it
-
Feck me, he's 4 and has an Ipod touch....
When I were that age I had a football.

This.
My four year old is more interested in riding her bike and running about than deafening herself with an iPod, thankfully.

You are supposed to care for your children!
Not destroy their hearing!
-
Wouldn't bother giving a kid that young an ipod, their ears will be f@cked by 10, Tinnitus anyone? :undecided:
-
I have a 4th gen one at home (think its 4th gen. with the cameras and facetime or what ever it called) selling that as im skintt ifbyour interested
-
Being an ipod touch i should think the child uses it more for games than music, could be wrong though.

yup
he uses it for games, videos, listening to music(without headphones)etc.
When i was 4 i had an old wheel and a stick
-
i could barely use a toilet at 4, let alone drop electricals in it
-
What Adam said. Does the PC see it as a device?
-
yes just plugged it into laptop,i can see everything on it through the laptop/itunes.
it is doing an update :undecided:
should i reconfigure it :undecided:

Sounds like the screen might be knackered?

My daughter who just turned 3 plays games on my wife's iPhone and on her Gran's iPad. Touch screen interfaces are so intuitive, she can use the iPad better than her Gran. And by the time their generation is at secondary school, everything will be touchscreen.
Not sure we'd buy her an iPod though.

Doesn't matter how old you are, if you listen to music on headphones it does more damage than listening to a very loud set of speakers. In-ear ones do more damage because they're closer to the ear drum. And you do even more damage if you use them while on the train, bus or tube because you turn it up to overcome the background noise.

I know with iPhones apple stored to a "warren exchange" scheme where you take it back with a problem and they give you a warranty exchange item (its got a new back and new screen so looks like new) for a small fee if its within its warren period, might even be free!? Worth looking into if they do it with the iPod. Id keep shtum about it going down the toilet though :D

Think it was purchased from argos, gonna look for the receipt now.
cheers alan

Doesn't matter where you bought it from. Still has a warranty with manufacturer, Apple. I know of several mates who had issues with iPhones and got "new" ones.
-
Apple checks for water damage and it looks like it's been dropped in water they are unlikely to honour the warranty. There are water sensitive markers in the ipod and iphone.
-
However as Alan said you can buy a "new" one.
My friend dropped his in the sea when the 3G was fairly new. Apple said it's scrap but they took it and gave him a refurbished one for £120-odd at the time, this is when they were worth £3-400.
No idea if they still do it but worth looking into.
