About a year ago I got rid of my mk3 for a bmw e36. the mk3 had been in an acident and I couldnt be bothered with the repair. I so regret that now. at the time I was never massivly keen on the car because I never had the money at the time to get it looking how I wanted it. Now im driving a new shape ford mondeo titanium x. But still think about the old golf alot my un finished project. Pluss there is somthing about mk3's that all ways drews me back to them when I move on to other cars. even tho my Golf went to a salvage yard with very little damage I cant imagen it being striped down or crushed because it had full service history and only 60,000 miles so im guessing they would have more than likely sold the car on. So im looking for it and plan to buy this unfinished project back! I found this link http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/application?pageid=Vehicle+Enquiry&portletid=VehicleEnquiry&portletns=VehicleEnquiry_en&wfevent=link.next (http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/application?pageid=Vehicle+Enquiry&portletid=VehicleEnquiry&portletns=VehicleEnquiry_en&wfevent=link.next) dose this mean its still on the road?

Alright mate, I know exactly what you mean. I sold my old mk3 cos the clutch went and I couldnt be bothered to get it fixed. I moved into the ford scene for a bit but kept lookin at mk3 golfs again. When I got the one im in now I was well happy to be back, it felt fast  after owning an escort gti. :lipsrsealed: Mk3 and proud. Hope DH doesnt see that.
Anyway, link isnt working for me, but if it says that it has a valid licence disc then yes, its still on the road.
-
I have a App on my ipone that gives you basic details of cars. If the car is no longer with us then it showes up as nothing but when i put you reg in (assuming its the one in your sig) It cam up with details. So i would say its still alive :)

Are you trolling/taking the p!ss because a lot of people on this forum tend to joke about the boat shaped mk3's ...
Don't get me wrong, I love and cherish my valver but just can't see any one chasing after one. LOL
-
Really hope you find this too, have you contacted the salvage yard to see if it's there or who it was sold too, if they have their details they may well be able to pass your contact details on.
-
This thread is ridiculous. Anyone but me noticed that he has become attached to a mk3?
-
haters gonna hate
mk3's always have and always will be my fave :)
-
Mine too, except that I liked mk2's first and I'll like mk5's when theyre cheap enough.
-
I don't get what the hang up's are all about with MK3's, someone please explain.
I want one to go with my MK2, ideally a VR6. There a nice looking hatch and if you get one with full leather they look a damn nice place to sit, can't imagine them being any slower than a MK2 either.
-
I think its a 'he's dissing them and he's cool so i'll diss them too' kinda deal

All the mk3 haters lol. Be honest with your self really guy's, you like them its just that they don't quite fit into the classic car category yet like mk1's and mk2's and that's why you don't like them. Give it a few more years and you will all have different opinions. Because there is honestly nothing wrong with a mk3. I can honestly say I love all the golf ranges you can really see wear they have grown to be what they are to day. All have quality's that may better to each other. Unlike other cars 'such as' I once owned a Citroen Saxo which replaced the Citroen AX, Saxo was a massive improvement on an AX. Then to replace the saxo was a c2 which quite frankly was a terrible replacement. I know all French cars are crap just an example.
-
I had a saxo vtr and several ax gt's and thought they were both good! I guess the saxo is like the mk3 and the ax gt the mk2?!! :lipsrsealed:
Anyway, the golf looked nice! Me and the mrs both have a car and even with a kid on the way and her pressuring me to sell one to cut costs, there is just no way that i would ever share my car!!

Yeah lol I was kinda skint so didnt get far with the moddifications, but I did get to scrub the bugger clean! lol. The whole car was spotless and realy low millage. I was so stupid to let the insurance wright it off, I should have listened to most of the guy's on hear and baught it back and repaired it my self.

There was like 17 pages of people telling you too!

Cheers mate  been reserching today looking for the old mk3. Phoned insurence to see what they did with the car. They sold it to a salvage yard so I rang them to find out they sold it to some auction in west of Bristol. so its true that it is back on the road and been repaired. Now I need to find away of finding out who has the car so I can get intouch with them to buy it back. I know its alot of hassel but I would love to get my one back as it was a rear colour and very low miles for a mk3 bearly done 60,000 with full vw service history and receipts manual etc which I still have lol

contact the dvla they hold the current owners details I think there is a fee but I am sure the best way to trace it will be through them. I bet the current owner is not aware its on the hpi registar also try a hpi check as will show how many owners it has had since you were the last keeper. Your right it is a rare colour R plates only used to have one myself you can see it in the old sig I really should update.

try the dvla thread in the general forum stickies, he might be able to hlep. Yes I loved that colour but was about 5 years ago sold it for a vr6 highline in black at a very good price but it nearly killed me, now in a lardy arse mk3 1.8 cabriolet (and a mk2 16V ) but if one came up in this colour through my contacts would buy it as love the colour
