Title: Flat until 5500rpm

My gti 16v feel flat until 5500rpm then seems 2get a power boost, is this normal?? Seems to be since i drilled my airbox as shown on here or is that just me thinkin that lol

Mine just feels slow everywhere, lol.

Can't see it being anything to do with the airbox mod... if anything it should let more air in which would help at high RPM..?*

*Statement based on nothing other than hazy 9am thinking.

Check/clear throtel boddy seems to help everyone else with this. Could also check Spark Plugs for crud of them :)

Should have bought an 8v then, it's all about useable torque  :wink: :lipsrsealed: :grin:

My 16 valve is good 2000 all the way to redline. (Doesn't happen a lot) mine picks up even more at about 5

Yeh mine only really picks up at about 3500rpm. If you're not used to driving cars you have to rev the tits off to get anywhere (VW valvers) they do seem a bit slow.

I wouldnt say it was slow but just seems to get a boost at 6k rpm, supose al just hav t rev the tits off it then lol

a nice big cold air feed stright into the undrilled box gave me a bit more poke lower in the rev range, coupeld with some v-power had i had a smile on my face the afternoon i fitted it :grin:

my 16v (altho a mk2) goes nuts about 3.5k then goes totally insane at about 5k  :grin: :cool:

 :grin: Well i'm glad someone finally replied to it! I put the bait out twice in this thread, once with that and once with the vtec comment, no-one took either  :rolleyes:

Mine is the same..... I spend most of the day driving a Caddy TDI where there is nothing after 3000rpm, then take the Golf out for a bit of fun and spend the whole time in the wrong gear  :laugh:

4-cyl BMW's are the same, 2.5K then it feels like a turbo has cut in.  :grin:

My 16v is from 3500 onwards, all the way to the limiter.
