Should have bought an 8v then, it's all about useable torque  :lipsrsealed:

I'll get my coat......

Would that be all torque and no trousers?

my 16v picks up around 3000rpm then goes mental all way round to redline.....

Mine is the same..... I spend most of the day driving a Caddy TDI where there is nothing after 3000rpm, then take the Golf out for a bit of fun and spend the whole time in the wrong gear
