Hey guys.
Have booked the car in for a Revo stage 1 remap this weekend.
Has anyone who has had it done got any feedback?
Also i have DSG, can anyone give me feedback on a remap with DSG? To be honest i drive in manual when i am having fun and overtaking but if in traffic and commuting i just leave it in auto. I am just hoping it wont make the DSG jerky with more power.
Has it helped your fuel figures at all?
I had a remap on my mkV Golf GT TDI from 140 to 185 and it was great but it was a manual!
Thanks for your help.
-
Sorry no experience with a remap but that was some increase from 140 to 185.
Was that more than just a remap? Who was that with?
Cheers.

That was with Angel tuning i think. Got that done in Glasgow about 4 years ago.
-
Ermmm Do u really wna ask me that question lol, Ude be unbooking
Performence wise its great. Service whilst installing great
Aftersale customer care from REVO directly absolutely disgusting.
-
Having spoke to people who have had a remap with a DSG you wont have any problems as a normal remap is WELL withtin the tolerance of the DSG box.
-
Got it love it! you will never go back to std gti
-
I do not know if they use the same setting (Diagnose On Board) as ABT.
If the do it will make the DSG even less jerky (I do not know if that is even possible ) since they promiss to make the car ...uuuhhh...more fluid....(they use that term themselve)....and powerwise from 210 to 260...
I would be interested to know details as well since I am going to be booked for (ABT) tuning within a week or so...
-
I'm glad I did it - this is how cars should be out of the box IMO
Agree but VW dont want to tread too close to S3 power figures.
-
I did mine in September and love it. The only downsides are increased fuel consuption (slightly) and the DSG 'box doesn't always seem happy with it (jerky around town).
-
A problem I have found since the map is that (premap) i would shift down enter the apex and then accelerate in say 3rd. Now with the map and extra torque I can take the same corner in 5th or 6th even and still ride the boost out. It ruins a wee bit the art of matching your gears to the corners as one gear can do everything.
(But then I've got a DSG so I don't get a say in gear choice very often anyway)
-
Just superchipped mine -love it! Feels like a different car.
Higher insurance, lower mpg but much, much bigger grins
I chose superchips/bluefin as I wanted to be able to take the map off when required, Iv'e heard lots of good things about revo though.
Can't comment on DSG.
Enjoy!

Is that in "D" or in "S".......
-

D. I very rarely use S, as it tends to hang on to the gears too long for my liking. When I do use it though (or shift manually using the flappy paddles), it does seem less jerky.

I find that a bit disturbing news....since I promised my wife the car will become smoother (in "D" ) after remap from ABT...

Tried to find a link but not successful. Sorry.
Have to buy the mag probably.
It's interesting that the GTi with the DSG seems nearly as fast as the superchips GTi manual. The Autogarph re-map is £2,500 approx whereas Bluefin is less than £500!

The Autograph car had much more than just a remap though! IIRC it was a full TBE, and also included some suspension mods. Left my mag at home so can't be 100% certain

Yes, quite a few things. Evo also did an article on an Autograph MK5 GTi last year which had lots and lots of wheelspin (in the wet!).
Better to get an Audi RS5 or a BMW M3 instead of messing around too much with a family hatch/hothatch!

You didn't read the article on the new RS5 fully then as it struggled to pull away from the S4  get the S4, remap it and pocket the change :afro:

RS3: Great internals in an unfortunately old boring body with a probable few vulgar add-ons to make it look acceptable. :embarassed:
Sorry, but let's call a spade a shovel!

Mmm, I heard the RS3 will be debuted in the outgoing S3 shape....

I would go for an "R" give it a severe remap and a few "add-ons" and settle this discussion once and for all....

Audi RS3 (2010): CAR's new spy photos
07 April 2009 11:24
Not to be outshone by VW’s hot Golf R20, Audi will launch a 335bhp RS3 in 2010 to take on BMW’s 135i Coupe and blow the Ford Focus RS away. After years of carefully nurturing the occasional RS model here and there, it seems Audi is hellbent on launching as many high-performance RS variants as possible...
An Audi RS3 with 335bhp? Has Audi dropped the engine from the TT RS into the RS3 by any chance?
You got it in one. The 2.5-litre turbocharged in-line five from the TT RS – essentially half the engine from an RS6 – has been slotted into the A3 to create a 335bhp hot hatch.
Clearly 332lb ft would wreak havoc with the front tyres' ambitions to stay in contact with the road, so drive will be sent to all four wheels through Audi’s Quattro drivetrain. Our sources in Ingolstadt suggest the RS3 can charge to 60mph in just 4.5 seconds, before heading on to a 175mph top speed (where derestricted).
When will we officially see the new RS3?
We hear that Audi will unveil its new hot hatch at the 2010 Geneva motor show, but it’s virtually undisguised in our new spy pictures. The aluminium-effect door mirrors and huge single frame grille flanked by twin air intakes remain from the current Audi S3, but the foglights have gone and the bodywork is more sculpted.
There will also be stiffer suspension, uprated brakes and bigger wheels, while the twin pipes on the prototype are expected to be swapped for the typical twin RS oval exhausts.
Prices for the RS3 are expected to start at over £32,000. That's pretty steep for a hatchback – especially when a 135i M Sport costs £29,610 and a three-door S3 is £27,130 – but remember the jump from TT S to TT RS stands at £9560.
When the RS3 does go on sale in 2010 it'll mean Audi will build four RS models simultaneously for the first time ever: the new RS3 scooped here will join the RS6, TT RS and RS5.

Should be a very nice car to own , me thinks??

There is a Breadwagen S3 on my street and it looks so dated against my GTi. Its owner feels the same and wishes he had paid a bit extra and got a Golf R or even a GTi.
As for the ride, reminds me of the Type R and not as much fun. The steering feel is also quite awful. As Evo mag says, 'Like driving a computer game'! Car mag ranks it as 'Bad'!
The inside of the S3 is very olde world too with that vile looking Sat Nav system.
Sorry, but this is a run-out model on its last legs!

I agree with you to some extent , but those 2 letters RS that do it for me & then there's the power that goes with it!!

How can you not be bothered how it looks....in the end you pay real money for it, so a bit of eye-candy seems normal to me......if it is horsepower only you are after you would be better off with an old Subaru Imprezza with all the remaps....

If you want a 'real world' economical hatchback which also looks superb get a GTD remapped! I can't believe I have just said this!
OR,
Get a standard GTi.
Good enough.
Enough said.
IMO!

Forgive me being DUTCH...so I did not pick that up...
At least we share the important bits....no "shouting" models....I am shure you get the RS3 to look nice...actually probably by heightening it  instead of lowering it....the more you lower it the more you get your "stationwagon-lenghty" look......watching Top Gear you than would be better of with the Merc or BMW station....

RS3 - delivers the goods... but at a silly price and super dated looks!!!
Personally I would pick up a 2008 R32 and supercharge it, and then drive with my lean on.... but only because of the wad of fifties in my back pocket
... that my friends is the ultimate hatch
-
....stay focussed....
I give you the ultimate hatch....

Hey guys, thanks for the advice you gave me about the remap. Decided to get it done at the weekend and thought I would give you all an update!
I live in the Mountains in Scotland and for a change the weather was okay, just a couple of short sharp snow showers but it was mostly sunny and the snow wasn’t lying. Also hardly and cars on the roads and the ones that were there were mostly parking up for views and photos. Perfect to take it down single lane tracks and over all the high level mountain roads and throw it around into the corners! I have to say it is just sensational!!! It has so much more power it is unbelievable!!! The torque is also way better, seems like a diesel taking off even in the higher gears without needing to change down!!
Acceleration to 60 in 2nd is just instant, going up the hills when you floor it in 3rd you can feel it scrambling for grip all the way to the red line before getting into fourth and of course remembering to slow down for hitting the top of the hills and not taking off! Taking the car through the corners at 60 and then roaring out in 3rd really is great, so much faster and instant than before the remap. I could get used to this!!!
On the subject of DSG it works really well. With the extra torque and power available it doesn’t need to kick down as far making it smoother and of course it is just fabby in manual mode!!
So far so good, I just need to remember not to use this power when heading towards the built up areas and just have fun over the hills on the deserted windy roads!!!

A few guys here are really off-topic in ALL the topics.....
Anyway tomorrow 8.30 time to ABT.......
I wonder howcome Remapping the GTI with a D.O.B. delivers different amount of BHP depending which tuner you choose ........since it all comes down to parameters surely every "chipper" wants to give you the max....(I think 43 BHP) :undecided:

Sooo off topic but sooo much fun.
