Revo Remap
« on: 28 April 2010, 11:09 »
Hey guys.

Have booked the car in for a Revo stage 1 remap this weekend.

Has anyone who has had it done got any feedback?

Also i have DSG, can anyone give me feedback on a remap with DSG? To be honest i drive in manual when i am having fun and overtaking but if in traffic and commuting i just leave it in auto. I am just hoping it wont make the DSG jerky with more power.

Has it helped your fuel figures at all?

I had a remap on my mkV Golf GT TDI from 140 to 185 and it was great but it was a manual!

Thanks for your help.

Sorry no experience with a remap but that was some increase from 140 to 185.
Was that more than just a remap? Who was that with?

Cheers.

Having spoke to people who have had a remap with a DSG you wont have any problems as a normal remap is WELL withtin the tolerance of the DSG box.

I do not know if they use the same setting (Diagnose On Board) as ABT.
If the do it will make the DSG even less jerky (I do not know if that is even possible ) since they promiss to make the car ...uuuhhh...more fluid....(they use that term themselve)....and powerwise from 210 to 260...

I would be interested to know details as well since I am going to be booked for (ABT) tuning within a week or so...

I'm glad I did it - this is how cars should be out of the box IMO

Agree but VW dont want to tread too close to S3 power figures.

I did mine in September and love it. The only downsides are increased fuel consuption (slightly) and the DSG 'box doesn't always seem happy with it (jerky around town).

A problem I have found since the map is that (premap) i would shift down enter the apex and then accelerate in say 3rd. Now with the map and extra torque I can take the same corner in 5th or 6th even and still ride the boost out. It ruins a wee bit the art of matching your gears to the corners as one gear can do everything.

(But then I've got a DSG so I don't get a say in gear choice very often anyway)
