Mr. Ã…kesson is a brave man and possibly a bit mad
His brand new mk6 GTI is undergoing plastic surgery and will be transformed into a GTI in Porsche clothing.
Can´t wait to see the final result.

Odd thing to do. :undecided:
-
Wow... check the photos on page 6!
Is this guy nuts or what? He's butchering the hell out of that bumper and sticking 2 together with pop rivets and tie wraps. It looks like Dr Frankenstein is working on it!!!
-
Nooooooooo, it's just wrong! What is he thinking about?
-
A Swedish nutcase
Thats not right
-
I don't know what to say!
-
I do
-
I dunno, this has potential to be amasing if he gets it right. The pop rivets aren't inspiring confidence though.
Nick

Heavy fiberglass and dodgy rivets!
Its got fail written all over it, should be interesting though!
-
Good god.

That's like...... stupid. Pointless. Rather ugly, IMO!
It's like taking Kelly Brooks' shapley figure and grafting on Jo Brand's ar$e, or something.

Quite disgraceful IMO. The MK6 is Probably the best looking golf ever, and now completely ruined. Just don't understand why he has done it. To much time, prob to much money, and prob to many drugs!

and prob to many drugs!
yep i would say so.

NOOOOOOoooooooo

Mr. Ã…kesson will send the car to the paintshop on tuesday. The brand new Porsche rims will also be painted...

Somehow I don't think he gives flying feck about that and to be honest he's only modified the front bumper. You can pick one of those up cheap enough to swap back.
Love how you guys are shocked by this, it's awesome. Love people who get stuck in on brand new cars.
Nick
-
Its not thats its a brand new car or anything to do with residuals for me its just its so fugly!
-
I admire his balls... tearing apart a brand new car.
On the other hand, I think hes start raving bonkers, and making a total botch of it!
Can't wait to see it once its been to the paintshop

I admire his ambition on the mod front but you can see from the pre fit it's an epic fail!!!!! we'll see.........

In the beginning it looks like a "pain(t)job" to me....but I will hold my tongue until I see it finished.. :lipsrsealed:..the man goes in extremes and I am a fan of that however the Porsche wheels are a big mistake no matter how unique the car will start to look like...(unless he takes the logo off).......
The guts to start a project makes me believe that he knows what he is doing so do not be fooled by a few temporary visible screws....

hmmm... no updates yet. trying to hide the results???

Its not the visable screws in the build pics its just that bumper! how far it sticks out and its looks
-
Looks horrid
-
I think there has been too much judgment before its finished, give the bloke a chance, look at some of the mad mods that were out there in the 90's on mk2's, chopped roofs and all sorts, at least he is being different instead of following everyone else, is that not what modding is all about, trying to be different, indiviual, unique.
-
is that not what modding is all about, trying to be different, indiviual, unique.
Well, not in my book it ain't: modding is all about making very slight and subtle changes to your car to give it the 'OEM plus' look. Trying to make your car look like a Porsche only makes you look cheap and/or common for not saving up and buying the Porsche in the first place. But, hey, each to his own, I guess - if this is what floats his boat, I say let him do it
-

Well, not in my book it ain't: modding is all about making very slight and subtle changes to your car to give it the 'OEM plus' look.
That's your idea of modding but modding is just changing the car to something you like so it can be as subtle or in your face as you like.
For instance, this:
to this:
I imagine the Ford Model A geeks hate what this guys do, but me? I love what people do in their garages to put their mark on their car. Sure some modded cars turn out looking dreadful, but some come out awesome. You gotta take the rough with the smooth and I reckon this MK6 has potential to be a bit special if it all comes together, but it could also end in total fail.
Nick
-
I see where you're coming from and - in theory - you're right. However, some mods are right and others are just, well... wrong.
Indeed, it could be argued that the whole point of a discussion forum is to reach a consensus on what looks good and what doesn't.
Below is BarryBoy's Shed of The Year 2009. I would suggest that most people would say it is wrong, it did win the award after all, but obviously the owner thinks it looks superb.
Wherever you stand, though, these 'modifications' [/euphemism] provide hours of laughter
-
With the right wheels that would look good!!!!
-
Bit of a fail for using a 5 door metro for a 6R4 rep that one I have to say. Shed of the year may be a bit harsh though, seen worse at my local McD's.
Nick
-
Not to everyones taste but the fitting with all the rivets has gone and a it looks like a decent job.
-
It still sticks out way way too much for my liking.
-
ETTO but it looks ok imo, the reds don't quite match and the current wheels look a bit poop! not a complete fail as i said earlier :embarassed:
-
I like it been waiting too see what it looked like. Needs the porsche wheels on now thow.

He has a set of Porsche wheels to put on I think. I've seen a shot of them in the garage somewhere!
You're right - the reds are slightly out.
Not as bad as I was expecting, but I'd be dubious trying to park a car with a nose that big!!

There is also an awkward relationship between the relatively level porsche lights and the upturned, swept back GTI headlights. Nice and clean modification, though..

Well, ugliness aside, I can see definite signs of botching, even at this distance:

Fiat Multipla

The flow of the bumper moulding into the front wing area ahead of the wheelarch is all wrong - all too obvious its from a different car. There must be tens of aftermarket bumpers for the mk6 he could have picked and all would be a better match to the original car lines.
Everyone to their own i suppose !
-
One word : sh!te!
-
One word : sh!te!
The number plate looks ok, especially if he's got the Adaptive Chassis Control.
-
I'd like the talent to be able to do something like that although to do that to a mk6 is criminal. Dono about anyone else, but one of the reasons I got the mk6 was that it looks classy and elegant while being fast and not boy racerish. Although the mod itselflooks ok-ish, its ruined that car imo.
-
Iv got to say it looks better than I thought it was going to look.
-
The number plate looks ok, especially if he's got the Adaptive Chassis Control.
I bet in his country its called Dynamic Chassis Control though - like in Germany
-
It looks better than I thought it would, but that bumper just doesn't go with the car.
What a bad bad man.
-
The rounded lines of the bumper dont match the slightly sharper styling of the mk6. In other words it looks cack!
-
Besides the good craftsman skills and taste...if I stare at the front I keep focussing my eyes since they are fooled to see ...uhh...double....with those big lights underneath the standard front lights...to that is actually a matter of bad design...no matter what taste.
But in the end it is his car and his taste and he will be driving in one of a kind that's for shure.....
Photo's can only tell so much.......mind you it wouldn't be the first time to judge it more positive in real live...

The mk6 looks ok, would loose the extra lights, but thats my opinion not his. Not a bad effort though, he has some skill.

I for one think it makes the MKVI look loads better. Let's face it, it couldn't have made it look worse

Nasty! as the mk6 is based on the mk5 there is not a great deal difference in looks, but for me the mk6 is a better looking car both inside and out but especially inside.
You behave yourself young Sir lest you upset us mk6 owners.

+1. Nicely implemented, but appalling taste.
-
why didn't he just buy a porsche instead. it looks too front heavy. u can get a decent porsche for the same price as a gti. like a 996 turbo
anycase. who in hell is going to buy it when he sells it?
those alloys look very nice but minus the porsche badge.
-
I liked his idea cause veedubs and porkies are in the same family tree but it looks a little out of place given the rest of the car being OEM.
I also think VW centre caps would have been nice. The alternative would have been to debadge the whole car and do it all with porkie badges. This is what Fiat have done with Ferrari for the Scuderia 500 Abarth. I think it would certainly add a nice spin to the car (a porsche powered golf ) but at the moment it only looks like it's half of what it should be.

To be fair the guys certainly put some effort in there and produced a very good finish.

It looks very similiar to an Abt inspired machine.
-
Mind you the difference between the Porsche design and the last couple of foto's is huge.....
I mean the last few pics is all about wrong make-up....replace all the red parts for black and you have a different car....
-
It does indeed look like the ABT kit, which is also shocking. Aye everyone to their own and all that but its just Max Power / chav / what ever you want to call it.
-
Erik: Red is the colour of love and black/grey of death.
But as I am weird and morbid, I also love wakes.
-
Have you been sniffing stuff.... :lipsrsealed:
Okay I make it simpler for you (Einstein said that) .... if the car is all red...the car will look totally different and will loose the cheap ABT effects...
ABT....uhh...they are great in remapping ....but it is about time they hire a proper designer and not use a 16 year old, full of testeron, behind a cad station....
