hi
ive seen these mentioned a few times, i noticed theyre on offer for £165 aswell, which is nice and cheap, but what are they like? any good? worth 165 of my hard earned? im looking to lower to around 30-35mm but im not sure if thats gonna still be to high/low, which is why i want these babys, any comments more than welcome!

ive got these on my 1.8t and there great for the money very easy to fit and a sound ride!

does any one know if you need spacers on the front to get the wheels back ok as i did have to with my polo and i would like to put some on my golf now but dont want spacers

Depends how low you go, I needed 5mm spacers on mine to clear the adjusting ring :smiley:

I run a 5mm spacer on the front wheels,you need it to clear the adjusting ring.

mine are v maxx but there the same units just branded differantly. My opinion is if your going LOW then pay a bit more for a quality set. If your going 40mm or higher you should be fine. You do get what you pay for but for an average kit and average ride quality these make a very good value buy. :smiley:

My mate has a set and has got them on the lowest setting, I can't believe how comfy the ride still is on a half decent road. Im defo getting these in time

I ran them on my mk3 for 8mths and I would never use cheap coilovers again the ride was shocking to be honest plus I found the threads very poor and it made it really hard to get the car level.

ive read lots of things on the hottunning ones and tbh id rather pay a bt more for a good quality set in my case im going for weitec as ive never heard a bad word abotu them they arent over priced but a price you'd expect to pay for a decent set, alot of people do say buy cheap buy twice etc
but its up to you, you might find they are great and exactly what you want

Alot of people have questioned their quailty, but its mostly people with more expensive branded coilovers that do this with out giving them ago.
Look at it this way, if your on a budget they are perfect, they come with a 2year warrenty, most people dont keep their car much more than that anyway, so no biggy.
It comes down to you and your budget at the end of the day.
Just to through this in, I have heard the AP sets that venom are selling for £320 are ment to be good and a grate price.

if people on a budget and wannago low ,u can buy some AUDI TT strut which is 10mm shorter than mk4 strut , get some lower springs and now u can buy a top mount which can lower the car buy 10mm ,so depend on how low the springs is all in all u can lower the car at least by 50mm upto about 70mm which is plenty imo ... at the same time u get comfy ride too ...

That would prob end up costing more than the Hottuning ones :undecided: and you have no warranty

well,if u shop around like ebay or some places do stock clearance u can pick up the strut quite cheap or can get a low mileage seconhand strut then the spring is u currently got some lower springd u can still use them ... and top mounts it needs to change so prob be extra 10 pound

it wont be that much diference in price and u get a good quality ride and the low u wanted ....

i have just had some hottuning coilovers fitted less than a week ago and upto now i think there excellent for £165 even if in 6 months they are knackered i will learn from it as long as it doesnt mess anything else up on your car changing your suspension if these are crap in the long run is no big shakes is it....
but from my point of view do it

wow, lots of replies, wasnt expecting that when i got in from work! im thinking ill probably go for them, aslong as they fit ok, balance out alright and the car looks better and handles a bit better im fine i geuss? a harsh ride doesnt really bother me too much either, although it would be nice to have a good comfortable ride like i have now, anyways, thanks for all those replies, great help!!

You can't go wrong for the price mate, i got em fitted on my mk4 had no problems and its not to harsh and has firmed up the ride to no end :cool:

The ones he originaly sold were hottuning but they were frequently being sent back with complaints and faults so he no longer supplys the hot tuning coilovers aparntly, not sure what they are now

these shocks are on my car the race land ones which are same ones and they ride fine, but i get a terrible squeek from front shocks, i had all my bushes replaced and they eat my strut top mounts for fun. i noticed a big improvement with ride quailty, but i will be selling them shortly for some abit more up market, as they say pay for what u get. my car wont go any lower with out spacers now....(http://i590.photobucket.com/albums/ss348/sean_gt/Car3.jpg) i also had to fit an uprated arb which was £125 then fitting to.... swings and round abouts
