Spacers
« on: 13 December 2008, 18:25 »
Don't really like my wheels but can't afford anything new at the moment. Previous owner was running some fairly wide rims and had some arch work done to fit em in so my mine are a bit lost in there. I'm thinking of getting some spacers (probably 10mm each side) for the time being until I can afford some new wheels. Anyone got any advice/experience on spacers? Venom seem to have some decently priced FK ones http://www.venommotorsport.com/product_details.php?id=403&manufacturer=FK&category=Wheel

Is this about right and are they the type I need?

There's not much to spacers, theres two types, ordinary and hubcentric (?). The problem with the cheap ones is that they don't centre on the hub, so it can cause wheel wobble at high speeds. The link you have shown shows hubcentric ones in the pic - but I'd call to double check.

Remember, you'll need longer wheel bolts on most spacers over 5mm.

up to 10mm its usually fine to go with cheap universal spacers, as the hub lip still sticks out past em.  I found 10mm fk hub-centric ones I bought wouldnt fit over the hub as they were too shallow.  Basically, as long as the wheel can still centre on the hub you're fine with non hubcentric ones.
