Yup. Ok I'll admit it now
The other week, when I got a letter saying something for me from royal mail came, I disconnected my ecu on the Sunday to install chip first thing Monday morning. However when I disconnected battery I only disconnected negative. When I took ecu apart a track had burnt.
To top it off, the letter the chip was in had the bottom corner broken off and chip had slipped out in the process. Anyway I contacted pepeoi and he sent a replacement chip. I had to repair the be ecu, as the ab spare one I had as a temp was working, but car idled at 1k and it felt jerky. So I got a low wattage soldering iron and repaired the burnt track. All seems to be working fine now since last week so I'm confident it'll be ok
No fault codes or anything since repairing it.

Oh and with regards to the new found performance on the chip, I'm very happy. Definite improvement, MPG has increased and exhaust note has changed slightly too! (Either that or it's blowing, which is highly unlikely as it wasn't blowing when it was running the old chip ).

Tomorrow I'll be doing ARB links, going to check the exhaust and try and track once and for all where my scrubbing is coming from (spacers didn't fix it).

Would be interesting to get it on a rolling road to see what you have gained.

Are these the same chips that are a waste of time and they make your engine over fuel so as to give you the placebo of it being faster?!? Just like them wheel spacers that make your wheels fall off and turn your dash into a flesh eating zombie (sorry, ive just got in from a ridiculously messy saturday night )
Respect Khare, got one of these for my 8 valve when I first bought it but never fit it due to the bad press they get, everyone saying there dog sh!t  I need to get mine soldered in tho
Sounds like they are alright mate, keep me posted

some of the ones off fleabay are dog sh*t. These eproms are much better. The ones that are dodgy are a little black box which just have a resistor in, with two wires that you connect to your maf sensor. You dont wanna connect them up!
