Thanks Wayne.

Got a picture of the rear beam, so you can have a quick glimpse.

All fitted and working. What a pain in the ar$e refitting the beam, glad I had a friend holding the beam otherwise I really don't know how I would have coped.

Refitting brakes

Next on the list is a big clean, sorting out the brake system and fixing niggles.

Different. I like it. How boring would black be?

The bushes seem to be pretty decent, rear end feels firmer for sure, but car is still not perfect (handling terms). I'm putting this down to the hottuning coilovers however. If I do decide to keep this car on the long term I'm investing in some KW or FK coilovers.

Still need to do brakes, need to buy some braided hoses and brake fluid and get on with the job. Some of the unions though look pretty rusty so I am actually quite worried that they will get rounded/break or so on.

Yellow beam added at least 3hp, I can feel it.

Need to sort rear brakes out. People don't know how bad the handbrake is, I mean, it won't do a handbrake turn. I need to either get some new calipers, or recondition the current ones followed by some decent brake pads and new discs (and new wheel bearings while working on the rear, might as well).

That's it for now.

MOT is due soon, so starting to get it ready, although not much to do. Sills were the bit that worried me the most so this evening I crawled under the car and see what's what. Gave them a wire brushing and this was the result.

A small hole, and a tiny hole. The small hole looks pretty big in that pic, but it's about 4 or 5mm wide. I'm not sure whether that's a fail or an advisory, but to be on the safe side I gave it a thick coat of waxoil.

Other side was fine, no holes, just jacking point mashed up, matching the other side. Gave that a cover with waxoil too however.

Also painted rear brake calipers to match the fronts. Been meaning to do this for SOOOOOOOOOO long, but never got round to it.

Reading this thread, congratulations.

Nice to see you actually doing the 16v even after wanting a 16v-killer 8v

But yeah, probably learned quite a bit. :afro:

Deffo prefer it on the GTi wheels instead of the VR6's though.

Oh and it's looking well tidy on the outside. :afro:
