8v, you're fired!

right after danny finishes poking his tongue out

one nice 16v shaped hole

8v clutch, it was very burnt and damaged

Polished spots from clutch heat

16v engine up in the air, where danny sorted out wiring and fitted the sump

Then after a while we headed home, to rest for the next day.
In the morning the engine was put in and wired up over the course of the day.
Danny removing the aftermarket immobilizer

16v loom on the left, 8v loom on the right

16v engine with DH's blown 8v, turned out to be a broken valve!

Danny decided to make some art, he made a sculpture!

When Danny saw this, he chased me round the yard and hit me. He actually hit me, not joking.

One 16v lump in!

But it had to come out twice. Once we forgot to fit the brake servo, then we forgot to fit the clutch cylinder.
DOH!

DH giving Danny a rest from the wiring

We ran into immobilizer problems, so Danny went on a mission to sort it

All getting back together

Finally sorted it and engine ran well. However...The PAS fluid GSF sold me was far too runny, much like brake fluid. Turned out to be hydraulic fluid for a citroen. So I shall be throwing the bottle at GSF and claiming some goodies. So we removed the PAS belt and ran the car with no PAS steering, got it home like so with the interior full of random bits and bobs and all taken apart, an exhaust system, rear shocks and lots of mud.
Got the car on the 00:35 ferry and made it home eventually, a day early, so total time of 48 hours on the island.

Need to go back in the next few weeks to pick up the spare set of wheels from the 16v, my haynes manual, my old engine and a few other parts.
Thanks in a million Diamond Hell and danny_p for helping me, you've finally achieved something you had been trying for a while...Converting me to 16v love!
