did you notice any difference in mpg when you ported your throttle khare?

Porting the ABF throttle should make the response from a closed plate to an opening much more snappy.

The stock ABF throttle plate hides behind the hump in the throttle body for the first ~10 degrees of opening (can't remember exaclty how many degrees but it is significant for response).  IMO in stock form this gives a deadzone feel until you open the plate angle wider.

I know what you mean about the deadzone.. mine was quite sluggish in the first few thousand revs but after even a mild bit of work (there's still more to take off!) it feels a lot snappier low down. I love free mods :)

Yeah its sweeet man

I noticed you've done a fair bit of airbox experimentation, my lower will be similar to yours.. i have a couple of questions though if you could help..

1.is it worth smoothing the upper part of the airbox
2.whats better for the opening? a single large opening or two smaller openings? I am thinking the airflow will be more directional with a single opening?

cheers

Definitely smooth the top of the airbox as well. Where the opening that connects to the intake pipe is, round that off so it's not a sharp edge if you know what I mean. Regarding the openings, I have two on mine.

Top half with the rounded lip

Since that was taken I've pulled the smaller air feed out of the hole and aimed it in that direction rather than actually being in the airbox, and I've cut away the bit from the slam panel that obstructs the bigger hole.
