Throttle body and Static Ign. timing?
« on: 10 June 2004, 17:33 »
Every other post seems to mention cleaning the throttle body or check static ignition timing, makes me want to do mine! Is it pretty simple? If so I'm going to have a crack this weekend. Even though my valver is running fine, it's just a bit powerless at the moment.

Get hold of a Haynes manual or a Lyndsey Porter manual, they both should show the static timing marks.

or

take the upper cam belt cover off,
at the top on the rear cover there will be an arrow, this will line up with a mark on the cam sprocket.
there should be an arrow on the lower timing belt cover that should also line up with a mark on the crank pulley.
remove the dizzy cap, if cam and crank marks line up then rotor arm should point at a mark on the dizzy body (approx no.1 spark plug lead).

hope that helps  :D
