Which model?
« on: 09 June 2004, 07:18 »
First post in this section :)

Ok guyz I have a MK2 but got a baby on the way and the missus is finally going to trade in here 206 (Thank god).  Just to out do me she wants a MK4 Golf :) So I was wondering if you guyz could reccomend a model/engine size etc.

It has to be 5 door with Electric Windows! I have been told the 1.6 SE is a good choice, is this true? We are going to be going for a 51/02 plate so any date of car to miss or get?

Thanks for any help

Yep the 1.6SE (16v) is pretty good - me dad's got one.

It's good value for money, and pretty much as quick as the 2.0 8v GTI! (0-60 in 10.5s)

Don't the late SE's come with air-con as standard too ? (not entirely sure on that one)
I'm sure you could get a slightly older mk4 GTI for the same price as the 1.6 you're after  ;D

Take care

Yep - SE's got air con.  My Dad's is a Y reg and it's got it.

Tophuh's right though, you could get a car like mine for about ?6-7K, or even a high mileage turbo.
