If the paint on the tailgate is the factory origional, there is no need to strip back to bare metal, repair and prime only the necessary areas
if its been painted since factory paint, then as above, but prime the whole thing
Inside panel need only be keyed with a red scotchbrite, all other rubbing should be done with 800 grit or finer..
How are you intending to apply the primer/paint?
Tom
I have converted my shed for the mean time to spray shop free of dust and nice and clean... I planned to get a bucket of hot water then place the spray cans in to warm the paint/primer, and do very light coats of each, even if they don't fully cover the first time. This sound ok? It's just little things i've picked up off this forum as I'm kinda new to this. All your tips are much appriciated, and thanks to all those that already offered advice.
