CIS FUEL DIST
« on: 07 June 2004, 22:50 »
Ive heard that an audi a4000 fuel dist fits into a cis mk2 gti and adds like 20 % more power because of higher fuel pressure and longer timing??? can anyone verify this?

Hmm. Not sure I know huge amounts about the kjet system, but I wouldn't think higher pressure would make much difference - you can alter it changing the shims on the standard fuel distributor. Dunno about the "timing". Should think it wouldn't make that much difference, as it depends on how long the inlet valve is open. Perhaps there would be more fuel there though when it did open? I'd be more inclined to investigate a different throttle body, perhaps the a4000 one you mentioned if you go for the fuel dist. Should let a bit more air through..
Hope you're enjoying the sunshine. ' 8)

how on earth do you modify an engine or upgrade one with k-jet? there are no performance parts available for them

Not sure there's a huge amount you can do to the fueling system. Can always do the standards things like high lift/different duration camshaft, change the throttle body, different exhuast manifold, performance filter. If I remember rightly, the manifold from early golfs had the dreaded spring clip attachment to the down pipe. I also seem to remember reading the kjet engine in the scirocco I've got has the same BHP rating, but slightly lower torque (153nm as opposed to 159 for my golf of the same age) The scirocco has the same clip system + so upgrading the manifold there might help. Not saying that the different torque couldn't come from the kjet system though, just speculating. KJET is a good system - the 16v uses a (modified) version of it.. It's nice and simple and was used on LOADS of cars - audi quattro etc.

thanks for the info,  but theres no cold air intake,  turbo, supercharger kits etc for it ?

The cis fuel injection is not "timed" so I cant see how it can have longer timing.
Do you mean the warm up regulator?.
As for performance improvements, you can drill the air box and fit a panel filter like a K+N.
I have a turbo on my cise fuelled car, it is not a kit tho but can be done.
Steve.

how much will drilling the airbox add?
