i just got a mk2 8v given to me it seams fine on star t up but when it gets warm it somke really bad and it smeels like oil any ider what this is

its just on 100k i was thinking it could be oil seals also thought it could be over filled with oil have not looked only got it today just wanna know what the worst case would be it seams to not like going past 5k revs

sounds like it could be overfilled if it wont rev above 5k

Sounds like overfill to me too, dipstick then good old syphon, overfill can be as bad as no oil as it is a pressurised system and forces oil into places it's not supposed to go hence it appearing in the exhaust fumes.
I would not run it until you find out as no point in replacing seals if they don't need to be.

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

looked over oil is over filled its about a inch above the max mark

sounds like its got well over a litre too much, drain some out and hopefully its not caused any other problems
