....

Just posting to subscribe to this thread in case I can be of help - I had a boost leak due to a cracked wastegate. But let's cross that bridge if and when we come to it.

Check out the DV and PCV first.

Robin,

Did JKM take a pic of the cracked wastegate??  Have you just got them to replace that part or have you said sod it bung the K04 on there while the turbo is off?

I'm surprised the wastegate has cracked tho. didn't think stage 1 or 2 remap was running it that hard!

....Hi Chungster,

I don't want to hijack this thread by going into detail here. I've written an extensive report on the other GTI forum: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=493.0 - I hope that it's acceptable to post this link to another forum for the purposes of helpful information.

To check the DV on a K03 turbo you'll need to access it from under the car.  Three allen bolts hold it in place.

I'd be 90% sure it's  the diverter valve.  It's proper name is the cut-off valve.  Go to your local dealer and order part number 06f 145 710 g.  Older cars have the 06f 145 710 b.  This was a weakness which suffers with the increase in boost from the remap.  Personally I would get a mechanic to fit it.  Don't starting f**ing around allen keys or you could do more harm than good.  The part itself is about £30 and fitting another £30.  You can get the forge one if you prefer but personally I don't think it is necessary.

If its mapped Id suggest getting the Forge one: http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/content.asp?inc=product&cat=260303DV&product=FMFSITV

Getting mine along with the map next week to avoid this situation in the first place.
