Kinda depends on what you've bought.

Is the CD player in the armrest?

If so, just remove and connect the iPod shelf to the CD player cable

its easier and cheaper to have the cable which goes through to the glove compartment (c100 squid from vw), connects directly to headset and controlled through it too, the one you seem to have purchased is i believe a factory fit option so may be difficult to fit post production

I think the cable for the cd changer / ipod is in the bottom of the armrest whether the changer / ipod was fitted or not.  I assume its easy to remove the storage compartment from the armrest?  Just take it out and have a look.  If its there you're golden.  If not as others have said It will be a PITA to retrofit.

Good luck.

I wouldn't think the changer cable would be there if there wasn't a changer fitted, VAG aren't renowned for fitting wiring for options that aren't specified.

I think you need a standard CD changer cable, if you go to the dealer they should be able to get you the parts for a 'Service Install'.
