how to fit a golf gear box

hello i have a 1994 vr6 only 98kon the clocks with full history and me being a big show off and an evan bigger tw##t blew a nice big hole in it i now have a new gear box but i need expert advise onhow to fit the bloody thing got the old one half off just waiting for the soket to take the hub off if any one has a detailed discription on how to fit it please help cheers

Remove the drive flanges if you are not using an engine hoist to support the engine.
It can be done with them on but bloody difficult.
Unfortunately with the vr you cannot use the old trick of rotating the diff upwards to remove the box, as the engine drive chain gets in the way.

old one out new one in that hardest thing was getting it past the far right gear box mount cant take it off when on the car had to reomve with it jacked up to the hills to get the last bolt just fitted both drive shafts in all good just got to put the starter back on wheels etc etc and should all be good fingers crossed never in my life will i ever offer to help do a vr6 gear box about 6 hours to get out and about 4 to get in and all fitted up not bad for a complete novice have to say thanks to me mate RICH and RUSS for there help  gettin the new one in
