Seems abit shocking that you have to purchase the winter pack to tell you to top the washer fluid up, my v v v vauxhall warned me. Bad on VW's part I say.
sorry but my vaux looks far better than the mk5 gti, thats why i bought it  faster too

As correctly stated the low washer light is indeed part of the winter pack. However it can be programmed specificially by VagCom. So if you ask your dealer nicely the low washer light feature can be turned on on any MK5 Golf.

Really!  I didn't know that...   My new  My wife's new R32 has the winter pack and Xenons it has the washer by default and because it has leathers, they are heated anyway so that just leaves the washer light which I can sort myself.   Thanks for that bit of info.

don't you require the sensor in the tank though like the MKIV?  surely they don't fit the sensor and not enable it  :undecided:

Will the MKVI have a warning buzzer for if your low on credit on your phone, or your near your overdraft limit? How about a warning buzzer to tell you you are the laziest car owner in the universe?

Well I had been told by someone on another forum that he had his done on his MK5 Golf. I am currently trying to locate the original source where I read it. It did indeed seem that the sensor was there already and i just had to be turned on electronically. In one way it makes sense I guess for all the cost of the sensor would likely be to simply bulk manufacture the washer tanks to all the same spec. That said I could be wrong as I have taken this guy's word for it. Maybe some of you with VagCom can have a look and see if the setting is in there.

its a bit poor if it can be switched on with vagcom, it just seems like vw conning people into buying the winter pack

it is a useful feature, was on my mini cooper before because the windscreen wash reservoir was smaller than a can of coke

I would think that if it's not already working, ie as part of the winter pack or Xenons then I very much doubt you'll have the sensor in place and thus won't be able to enable it.  Simple check is if you enable it and it immediately sounds/lights up then it isn't fitted.

Just off the phone to a local dealer parts dept. Having checked ETKA he says the sensor is a seperate unit in the water tank so it seems what I thought may indeed be incorrect :( . The sevice guy was unavailable to tell me if all tanks come with the sensor fitted so he told me to check with the service dept. There was noone available at the time in service to see if they knew was the sensor fitted in all models.

Apologies for creating the excitment for those of you who wanted to enable it easily, as I had originally stated....seems I am wrong after all.
