What battery?

 I phoned my local vw dealer and ordered the correct quantum battery for my 16v price was if recall correctly around £42ish  bargain fort an O/E battery, and mile better than the snide that they sell at the likes of Halfords

i never buy batteries anymore they just sort of accumalate in a pile and use one that fits whenever needed.

tho if i ever did buy one it would be an OE brand  as some factor/ unbranded batteries are utter crap.

..... otherwise Bosch silver is a good choice, then the cheaper 3rd party affairs.

Just got me one of those from Costco @ £41. Euro Car Parts do them for about the same price. Part no: 412770710 @ £33 +VAT (but then I would have to pay for it and not the wife!  )

Bosch Silver or Exide x-tra plus.  The exide had a very good review in Auto Express and has a useful battery condition indicator on top.  Comes with 4 year guarantee and is the newer calcium alloy design.

The exide is a little more expessive - but with batteries you get what you pay for.  Older cars tend to need a higher CCA (Cold Cranking Amps?) so look for a battery with a figure 400+
