Seems the best price I can find for 3 way component speakers to upgrade the Golf Gti.

http://www.hertzincar.co.uk/component.php

I did find some that appeared cheaper on Ebay abroad, but adding on carriage they're priced about the same, never mind the risk of buying from Malaysia!

Any one else managed to find them or another brand of decent 3 way components cheaper anywhere else?

I may still try amping the existing front speakers though.....  :undecided:

That's about the best price you'll find the Energy range 3 way components at. I've just looked and the nearest I can find is £179.99.

BOOM!!!

That will be what happens eventually if you try amping the VW speakers with any kind of decent power with a signal from an aftermarket HU.

lol.

The stock speakers will hold up for a short while at least and so you could always test them to destruction

You will instantly notice that they are louder and crisper, but you will also notice quite a bit of "noise" at certain frequencies.

These frequencies are metered out with the stock VW head units as they employ software (DSP) to process out the frequencies that damage the speakers over the long term. Adding an aftermarket HU and then pushing extra power through them with an amp is going to end up damaging the VW speakers. They may not actually go BOOM, but the end result would be the same. :nerd:

I'm confused now - looks like there are 2 ranges of hertz 3 way components, Energy and Hi-Energy. The Energy ones I've found for around £170.The Hi-Energy ones are about £290ish.

Anyone got either of them?

Cheers. :)

I have the Hi Energy components up front, coax in the rear and 10" sub in the boot. Very good they are too
