Well, the deed is done but not with the local dealer. They wouldn't budge from my car + 5.5k to change. So I rang round and sourced an alternative vehicle - very similar spec : delivery miles, dsg, leather, 5dr, steel gray, privacy glass, mfsw, parking sensors, from a dealer in Slough. Asking price was more realistic to start with so managed to settle on my car + 4k. Left a holding deposit over the phone - will view the car tomorrow to make sure its as described and then its just a case of logistics.

Still a bit shocked with myself as the decision is really heart over head, but then I have always hankered after a R32 and this is the last chance to get a new one.

Dealer claimed that this is the most busy hes been with respect to selling R32s - from my investigations the dsg variants are certainly being snapped up quick.

Nice one, congratulations

Very similar decision to my recent purchase...(heart over head etc)..but now my head also agrees with my heart

Hope all goes smoothly with the purchase  .. and don't forget the 3 year service plan for £225  ... bit of a no brainer if you intend to keep the car.

The DSG's are great, and seem to be selling fast as you say.  These were all for sale a few weeks ago and were on my watch list !  :

Exactly the reason why I got another - ok so I have no money in my account as we enter a serious recession, but at least I'ill be broke and happy

Dealer claimed that this is the most busy hes been with respect to selling R32s - from my investigations the dsg variants are certainly being snapped up quick.

My first one was a DSG and I was after one this time - though for the wife because she didn't want manual - but had to settle for manual as I got an excellent deal - and wanted manual to be able to turbo it in a few years time.  However, I have a funny feeling that the DSG is really suited to the V6 engine in the R32 and makes it extra special...

And lets hope all the GTIs being traded/sold for R32s find nice new homes. We could have an influx of new members on here very soon
