right. Still havent found a carb mounting flange, but i had a good look toda, and i cant really tell if its cracked, or its just the way it was moulded (injecton moulded style, were you can see the line where the two moulds join)
I did mention to diamond hell a while ago my fuel pump is leaking, he said replace it, which i havent done so yet, but i will make a trip to GSF either tomorrow or tuesday and change it. Do you think that fuel pump could be the culprit?
Today i had to drive 300 miles and about 200 of them was with the problem, was a right pain. When i pull the choke up, it helps, but problem still there, just not as bad. So it means that when there's less air coming in, it seems to go better, which leads me to believe its maybe the pump, when theres alot of air the pump cant get enough petrol to the carb so it missfires/jumps. thats my theory anyway. will replace the pump this week and see how it goes. This problem is reaaaaaly getting on my t!ts now, before where i used to jump in the car and enjoy the drive, now its a game of tension and hopeing it wotn cut out at the next junction or while on the move

how would changing the fuel reservoir help?
Ive arranged to go up to diamond hell's workshop sometime in the next few weeks and get it running sweet. hopefully gonna replace fuel pump today and that should sort out the problem.

fuel resovor (pressure reg) can corrode and collect sh!t on the inside,  there are 2 ways it can piss the carb off,

a)  if it's knackerd it dosen't supply adiquate pressure to the carb
b)  they can corrode on the inside and collect crap as well then pass this into the carb  whitch causes merrry hell.    it is highly optimal to fit a new resovor and a filter between the carb and resovor / pressure reg.   my old syncro used to suffer with this problem till changed it
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
