polishing split rims

anybody recommend the best thing to use to polish the shiny rim section of split rim wheels?

if its laquered metal i would have thought alloy wheel cleaner like comma or wonder wheels, you know the stuff that stings you if you breathe in :-X

if its not laquered  ???

I thought you weren't supposed to use thsat stuff on laquered wheels?

how do you tell if they are laquered? :-\

I have slits on mine and the laquer is coming away. I hav heard you can buy replacement rims for these, as refurb companies don't touch them.

I just use soap and water to answer the question vaguely.

I was flicking through an old copy of "the golf" magazine the other day and there was an article on a company that specialise in refurbing splitties. It was either nov or dec of last year, I can have a look and post the details of the company if anybodys wants???

In answer to the question, autoglym wheel cleaner or wonder wheels etc if the rims are laquered. If the rims aren't laquered (which I doubt) then good old autosol and some elbow grease
