I got a good deal on the Sessanta's and I'm glad I took a punt at them. They are much better than either the conti 2's or conti 3's I've already had on the car in the past. Dry and wet grip are a lot better, although wear I'll have to reserve judgement on. :nerd:

Yeah contis seem to wear pretty quick, only had 6k out of the current set  :lipsrsealed:

Got 7.5k out of conti 2's on my Astra 150.

When payday arrives it will be the eagles as they have some raving reviews.
sorry but my vaux looks far better than the mk5 gti, thats why i bought it  faster too

That is just crazy talk!!! I would never ever put any sportmaxx back on any car I drive.. hell I woudnt even put them on a push bike! Seriously Phil for the sake of an extra £20 you really could have got yourself a quality tyre. Or for free you could of had my old sportmaxx I took off mine

i already had a pair on the rear axel so thats what swayed me, also i dont drive as hard as others. Maybe i dont have to proove a point

  :lipsrsealed:

They are not as bad as you think, unless you can proove to me otherwise, they are always in the top 5 brands.

Dont really think its about having a point to prove.... They also generate considerably less road noise than the sportmaxx and there is a huge gulf in the way they grip and improve the overall drive of the golf. Not to mention factors such as stopping distances and economy.... but its ok!! you saved £20 :lipsrsealed:

if it was Only £20 as you put it r32uk then i would of gone for something different but for a set of Michelin ps2's , they wanted £209 each, for pirelli p1's £159 each fitted, or my 1st offer for dunlops were £169 each!!!!,which i then said i can get those same tires for £175 (for a pair!) elsewhere and he said £164 for the pair + VAT and also fitted by brand new alloy F.O.C to the offside rear.

These tires ranked 5th outa 27 tested, there are better agree'd but was prepared to shell out for them or mix up the brands on the car.

Remember yours is a 4 wheel drive and maybe not aswell suited.

im happy for my style of driving, they were a bargain imo.

Michelin Ps2's score well but are not as good for the cold months and a better summer tyre.

Im not really commenting on the price you paid... more the fact that you paid that much for the sportmaxx!! I very poor quality tyre imo and if they were not made by dunflop then I doubt they would have made the top 10... but thats just my opinion.

Im quite sure Ed30 just had a new set of eagles F1's and paid £220 fitted! Could have also saved another fiver if you had waited til monday :lipsrsealed:

Prices do vary from place to place, they certainly are not that cheap down here, only if i shopped online but then would have to find someone to fit them whilst driving around on ilegal tread tyres.

Didnt wanna run the risk of 6 points( 3 per tyre) knowing my luck, couldnt wait. I had 24k outa the last set so cant complain.

Better break down here.

One thing you cant knock the sportmaxx for is longevity!!! Took me ages to burn wear mine down so I could justify changing mine!
