Best deal on a used ED30?
« on: 20 November 2008, 06:28 »
Subject to my wife murdering me - here's my dilemma.

Got an 05 GTI, subtly modified and just had a friend of the family express a strong interest in buying it. I had planned to keep this car a good few years until the depreciation had evened out a bit BUT you know how it goes when people wave money in front of your face (even if it is just implied money!!!).

Now, owing to the fact that I'm going to take a big depreciation hit on my car if I went through with it: Who's seen a cracking deal on an ED30 that would offset my misery and any physical and financial pain my wife will be inflicting upon me??? Oh and it would have to be a 5 door. This is NOT a wanted ad, just guaging the market at the moment....

Also quite fancy an R32 but the lure of 300bhp for £500 is probably too much for me.

Cheers for the replies chaps.

joesgti, that's certainly a bargain and food for thought

No Clubs, cheers for those links. I've been keeping an eye on your thread hence didn't want to post up a similar one and thus kept this to ED30s. Those R32s are just such comparative bargains right now.

I notice on VWs price lists the R is cheaper than a Pirelli!!!

The only thing that sways me more to the ED30 is the bucket load of torque you get from the mapped turbo motor being addictive and I fear the R32 would feel a bit flat in the lower mid range. I've never had the opportunity to drive on though but having owned VR6s in the distant past I've always found them lacking in mid range urge. But that noise......

ooo....a nice white one.....

Vetec, although it seems a good price at £16k on the face of it....the recent prices for r32s (e.g. 2008 57 plate R32, 5 door, Deep pearl blue, Full leather, uprated stereo, armrest, 7000 miles from a VW dealer!!) that Obbzi just grabbed and those new GTIs in Motorpoint at £16k/ glut of unsold R's and GTi's together with the fast approaching new model.......make £16k seem a bit on the high side in the current market conditions...just my opinion though...

A local buyer may just come along who hasnt scoured the market for weeks on end to find the best spec and the best price available...they do exsist, I have a mate who basically turns up and practically pays sticker price at a main dealer (slaps head).

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

I got offered a silver Ed30 with half leather, 5 door, manual, 08 plate, 3000 miles for £18k from a dealer and I'm sure they would come lower than that!
2008 R32 DBP gone. 2008 GT TDI going 2009 GTI coming soon!
